This play is magnificent."Pig," by PyleansDontLeaveMe, features charming, funny people with the most delightful neuroses you're likely to meet on a stage. This is every college production I've ever been to and that is not an insult. I loved "Pig," I loved the premise of it, and I loved how their lives all wove into each other by the end. I'd love to watch this show. I'd love to be in this show. "Pig" RAWKS! Some notes:-- I knew exactly what Madeline Kahn noise of frustration you were talking about. Funny. -- "Because of Sunday, and God and all." -- "See the lack of flaws?" So very Xander. -- "I had to see them. And face the pain. Of rats. Alone." So very Buffy. -- Sorry about the whole "not helping with the big lie" thing. Textbook Willow. --"Except I don't know anything. And I have this tape measure." BRILLIANT! -- Toby's proposal. OMG! -- "If oysters could spit, the economy would collapse on like five major Pacific islands." You, my friend, are a goddamned genius. -- Is Meredith's "How's it going" line to the audience? FUNNY! -- "Why don't we all set down our urine bombs and talk this over?" -- I love how Toby gets distracted by theology. -- "God DAMN you, Richard Dean Anderson!" You are just impossibly funny, Py. -- Sydney reminds me of that actress who played Seska and I have no idea where that reference is from. Couple points:-- There were a couple of spellings: You've got "whole" where you want "hole," and "right" where you want "write" and "LIVE" where you want "LIFE" and "loser" where you want "closer." Do a search, they'll pop right out. -- James and Toby. OK, I'm a 34 year old guy, have been showering in public since seventh grade, and I have never been in a place where I'd feel at all OK about discussing another guy's implement -- let alone complimenting it. It's taking the audience to an unusual place concerning this friendship. Not a bad place and sure as hell not a get rid of it place, but a highly unusual place. Interesting. -- No biggie, but how do you present an ocean on stage? -- I have two Austin Powers movie posters on my walls, and a framed poster from the Minot Area Council of the Arts. Where exactly would that end up on the Ruthie scale of "seeming gay"? -- I missed, somehow, exactly when Ruth burned James' house down. I'm sure it's in there, I just must have spaced it. -- It could technically end in her bedroom. The last bits are good, they're fun, and I wouldn't put them anywhere else, but after a man gets hurled into the audience by a woman, I mean, how do you top that? Also, opening in her bedroom with a guy who won't leave full-circles really well to her flinging him out. Just a thought. All in all, this is a phenomenal effort, and you need to send it to everyone. It needs to be seen by everyone. Excellent work, my friend. ;D

Charisma- I can E-mail it to ya, but I don't know your E-mail address... Sorry for my lengthy delay I'm a bad man. TJ- Yeah, I haven't done my cleanup edit yet- I know the homonyms and typos you're talking about. I hang my head in shame When I get going and am into something I have a terrible tendency to go by the dialogue I hear in my head which leads to the homonym thing. Does the ocean thing seem too conceptual? I could probably lose it without any significant loss... I know what you mean about the final scenes. I just didn't want to end it on a downer. It felt too sad to end it on the end of the final bedroom scene. Oddly enough, did you know that I'd never seen an episode of Buffy OR Angel when I wrote most of this?

And as to the shower thing- Yeah, delightfully NOT what ever happens in real life, is it? I just wanted to have a moment that was SO completely beyond personal boundaries. Plus it made me laugh to imagine this guy who's so completely at ease with himself that he doesn't realize how creepy that kind of comment is. And the framed art prints? Cheap joke:) My excuse is that it's just Ruthie's opinion. But really it's just there for a cheap laugh.

I scrolled right past tjs critique because I was just now able to check my email. So, I wanted to let you know that I'm going to read it, and I'll be posting comments later. But, tjs stuff will undoubtedly be more helpful as I have only read plays but never written or acted in them. ... one day maybe. Anywho. Nice to see you around Py

Oddly enough, did you know that I'd never seen an episode of Buffy OR Angel when I wrote most of this? What an incredibly strange experience it must have been for you to tune in to the 'verse for the first time. You share its breezy gift for dialogue.

Well, I have read a portion of the play and I gotta say, I am very impressed with it. If I were to go see this play, I would be laughing my arse off during the majority. The dialog is absolutely brilliant. The whole thing seems to have that surreal quality. Where DID you come up with the whole Pig Urine thing?? Not in a million years I tell ya! I must agree with tj about the similarities in style regarding the dialog. I was beginning to imagine the Buffy & Angel Characters speaking the lines. Very amusing. I look foward to finishing reading it.

Py I emailed you so you should have my email address now, as long as you didn't think my email was spam anyway
I put Pig in the subject line so maybe that will help. I can't wait to read it, I'm trying not to read too much on this thread so I won't be spoiled

I have just finished reading Pig, and can I say, that was absolutely fabulous. I loved it. If it was on in the local theatre, I would have a night out with friends and see this!
Hilarious.
And I loved the Jake/SCG confusion. I also loved how the scenes blended into each other at the end.
Brilliant play.

Okay, I finally had a chance to finish reading Pig. I absolutely loved it!
Sorry if my post seems off, but my cat is demanding my attention right now.
Now, where was I? Oh yeah, trying to talk about the brilliance that is PY.
The dialog was extraordinary. I loved how the scenes all blended together.
I did have trouble visualizing how the scene in the ocean could take place, without it seeming odd. It would be interesting to see it done.
Well, that's all for now. My cat won't leave me alone. He's so demanding sometimes.
