Oh, b'guy, I'm actually a "Maude." It's a little embarrassing, but we were doing a fundraiser when I was in college and I did my Bea Arthur impression. Lost us a lot of money that day. I don't like to talk about it. I think I'm only a mod in the Basement. is it sad that I understand the "Maude" reference? "And then there's Maude".... Oh great now that's gunna be in my head all day...

See, I was thinking more of the nehru jacketed type 'mod', tj. But whatever gets you through the night, Bea.

IW - OK, I'm only gonna say this once. Anymore annoying stuff from you - posts or pictures - and you're getting kicked out. And you're getting Maude all hot and bothered, too. It's lonely up on that prairie.

I gotta do it!
Lady Godiva was a freedom rider, She didn't care of the whole world looked. Joan of Arc, with the lord to guide her, She was a sister who really cooked. Isadora was a first bra burner Aint' ya glad she showed up? And when the country was falling apart Betsy Ross got it all sewed up And then there's Maude And then there's Maude And then there's Maude And then there's Maude And then there's Maude And then there's Maude And then there's that old compromisin, enterprisin' anything but traqulizin' Right on Maude!!!

Since those rather -- and let us never speak of them again -- college days, I have become far more attuned to the "mod" of which you speak, b'guy. Austin: That's not a woman, it's a man, man! And how wonderfully full circle.

you are evil...but at least now I can sing it all the way through and be done with it....hey It's been forever since I've seen it....okay, well...not since that stint on TVLand. but anyways, I'm kinda hankering for a marathon... She was one strange lady but tall. I liked her in "history of the World: Part I"...gotta love those character bit parts.

Looky who's turned 500... In honor of my great (if somewhat pathetic) accomplishment, I think I'll sing something retrospective...
There are places I'll remember All my life though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places have their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more In my life I love you more
(here's where I get original)
There are posters I'll remember All my life, though some changed names, Some are dense as Irish Setters, Though some caught on, a few remain All these wacky people have their moments With good times in threads I still can recall Some are dead and some are living, In my life I've loved them all

Nice rendition and cool new lyrics. Were you channeling the Beatles or Bette Midler? Either way, both versions are nice.

Did one of us die at some point, DG? I mean, I know I died, but I got better. * and thanks again for all of the running around or, in b'mans case, sitting there smirking at my corpse and stealing ciggies *Also, I was only able to let you know I was dead by posting it. I'm guessing if I actually die I'm not gonna be able to focus on stuff like that. I guess if any of us died we wouldn't necessarily know. I mean, I know with the proliferation of internet providers there's a lot of new programs out there, but somehow I'm guessing the cemetaries aren't getting wired up any time soon. That's actually kind of a weird thought. If someone dies, do we only know about it when they stop posting for, say, a week or two? What if they're just on vacation? Or what if they got annoyed with us and left in a huff and didn't tell anyone? I mean, hypothetically, of course. I can't really imagine a situation like that, but I suppose it could happen. I recognize all of those words but it makes no sense to me.I mean, say that Py had had an even worse time destroying his gate and in fact took off in a really bizarre "Final Destinations" moment. Would the Feller bother to, you know, log on and let us know? Here we'd all be sitting around thinking he must be extraordinarily busy, all of the increasingly frantic questions to Il Papa and no more songs about us, and maybe no one would bother to let us know. My heavens, the things our little songs make me think about. I'm pretty sure if I died no one would log on and let you all know. And if they did, they'd be using my screen name and you'd probably all have several weeks of debate about whether I was actually dead or whether that was just me playing another joke, and then the debate would spin into whether Eve was actually dead, or Gunn, or Doyle, and then about Dawn sightings and the price of spangled pants where you live, and then you'd get bored and wander off for a bit. And then maybe a week later you'd realize, hey, that probably wasn't a joke, and you'd light a candle or something in Caritas or the Hyperion or wherever we happened to be, you'd watch the Girl In Question one last time as a tribute, and then talk about it, and DG would bitch about it, and then maybe you'd try to track down any interesting posts I'd posted -- I mean, searching high and low for anything even remotely interesting -- and then you'd give up, someone would post, "tjaman, we hardly knew ye," to which someone would post, "Bea Arthur, we knew ye all too well," and Aunt Arlene would sing "Don't Fear the Reaper" and we'd all go about our business. Y'know, except for me. Being dead and all. Shouldn't there be some reliable way of finding out if any of us die?

Hey! I paid you back for those ciggies. Ummm, didn't I? Who cares, you were dead. And I was actually chuckling at the mouth-to-mouth that Olaf gave you.
Anyway, I'd know you were dead, I'm quite the Ghost Magnet you see. Of course if you make me dream you're setting me on fire, Father Merrin is making a visit. ;D

tjaman: Whoa. That was heavy. How am I supposed to sleep after reading that? Your prediction of what song I would sing? Dead wrong. Sorry, bad choice of words. Anyway, I would sing "Leader of the Pack" and for the inevitable encore, "Tell Laura I Love Her".

Funny you should mention cemetaries getting wired up.
This girl in my Systems class is currently working a project for a cemetary.
They need to design a way to keep track of their burial plots. You know stuff like who owns them, who's buried where, which plots are vacant, etc.
Their current system consists of note cards. She's asking for our help to build this system for them. It appears fairly complex from what little I know about it. And she's not even getting paid.

Leader of the Pack is one cool song by the way Auntie.
This conversation is a bit morose. I don't think anyone I know would let you guys know I died either.
I mean there's people who know I talk to you guys but they wouldn't know how to get ahold of you.
Celeste is pretty computer illiterate and she's the only one who knows what site to go to.

If your friend was getting paid, I'd suggest a gps plot of all the stiffs integrated into a database. Then they could have a nice map of all the plots anytime they wanted, and update it as they went. But since she ain't gettin' paid, Homey don't play dat.

Oh, and I would be compelled to cover Katrina & The Waves Walking On Sunshine just to lighten the somber mood at tj's wake.
