Oh, it doesn't take that long. Y'see, depending on the shape and contour of the lickee, a steady, circular lick can last up to 30 minutes or so before numbness sets in. However, if you fall back the up-down maneuver, which most amateurs do, you'd find that you're numb even before the 10 minute mark.
