My voting experience was just fine. I got there much later than I'd planned (around 3:30) but I must've just sqeezed in-between the lunch crowd and the after work crowd. The folks I talked to said that lines were immense for most of the day. Anyway, voted for Kerry and it seemed that a lot of folks were taking the Democratic sample ballots. One thing that really surprised me was that Virginia (which hasn't voted Dem in forever) is too close to call right now. Usually a die-hard Republican state, but we might actually pull it out this time. I'll be keeping my eyes on the early results.

Bush has taken Virginia, but most experts (American) are predicting a Kerry win overall (on British TV anyway).

I voted. I overslept and I was late for work and my vote isn't gonna count anyway because I'm in a dyed-in-the-wool red state and I still voted. Hoo. Ray. Okahoma is much the same my friend...so I wasted mine as well.... But what ya gunna do? No...really...what?? : ;D

I live in a typical conservative area on this side of the pond - lots of landowners and such - so my vote is but a drop in the ocean as well.
But if we have a general election next year, I'll still vote my usual way - the non-conservative way!
Coming from a working class northern background as I do, this would come as no suprise to anyone over here!
;D

I vote Labour - even though I disagree on some of Blair's decisions and policies, there really is no other choice for me.
And as usual over here, both main parties can never get their act together at the same time - one of them is always in a mess.
So the outcome of a general election is nearly always a foregone conclusion.

I know what you mean about the conservatives being out-of-the-question for power at the moment - I would be really shocked if 'dracula' got into power in Britain in 2005, despite Blair's mixed popularity. My point was that Blair is really very rightwing compared to his party (and what you said about your sensibilities) - I mean he's talking about cutting welfare for the disabled for his third term!
Anyway, apparently Missouri has predicted the winner of the presidential election since forever (except once), and they've gone for Bush. Though, I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean anything this time.

You're so right about Blair - he is indeed the most right wing Labour Prime Minister we've ever had - and he does tend act in a more Presidential way than a Prime Minister should! lol
And the health care/benefits stance he has is certainly worrying - but the Conservative stance is ten times as bad.
And getting back to the American election - I wonder if small gains like the one Bush got in Maine will make a difference in the long run.....hmmm!!

That 1 gain in Maine for Bush could well make the difference. But also it looks like all the original predictions about the votes of 6 streets in Ohio being decisive, might be right?

Bushed has nailed Florida grailwolf - where are you based? Ohio is also - on real votes (not calls) is leaning towards Bush too.

I'm in VA. Taking solace in the fact that so many of these races are still really close and could change any time.

Sorry to say I don't know what VA means. Has it been called yet?
I tell you what is wonderful - the turnout for a change.

CNN is projecting Florida for Bush, but MSNBC says that the absentee votes might lean more for Kerry. I might just have to call in drunk tomorrow. VA is Virginia.
