The Scared Straight programs usually have people screaming at people.
This part works because people assume (now) that the government is corrupt and evil.
He's never getting out of there.

This show is slow and turgid, has far too many obstacles and it has the world's most non sequitur lead-in.
If something significant doesn't change, it's almost certainly gonna be canceled.
Looking forward to "Reunion," tho.

Only in the movies, or only from strangers. There's lots of ways to scare somebody straight. I think this method would be way more effective than screaming. It really drives things home to his son.
His Dad is going to die. How much scarier can you get than that?
He's never getting out of there.
well ...
Actually only part of the show will take place behind bars. They do eventually escape. It wouldn't stay very interesting if they stayed in prison forever.

Spoiler tags actually don't work on my system at home. Another reason to get a new computer.
Not to worry -- the show will do whatever it does. It included one of the sloppiest executions of a citizen I've seen ever.
As for the Scared Straight stuff, it'd be even more effective if the kid hadn't said in this very episode he doesn't consider Burrows to be his father.
Now, maybe they made a connection, maybe he got his son down to the really real, maybe he's an even better actor than Eliza Dushku because when he's said he doesn't care about his father you believe him (as opposed to thinking that he actually does and is merely pretending not to), but his dad's been on death row for a month and he's had lots of time to ponder that ...
Oh, wait.
This is one of those "Yes dear" moments, isn't it. ;D

For the record, Cordy loathes the concept of "Yes, dear."
She does not insist that everyone agree with her. People who just agree with her are boring people.
She'd much prefer that we simply admit that we are wrong. ;D
P.S. -- There is not a big enough "tongue-in-cheek" smiley to encompass this entire post, but this will have to suffice:
Nothin' but love.

I *LOATHE* "Yes,Dear".
It doesn't say "I disagree but I'll be nice and not argue the point."
It says "You're probably right but I'm so dismissive of you as a person that I don't care if I'm correct or not.
I'll let you 'win'.
You just TRY and be happy about it."
That's about the smuggest, most evil tactic a person can pull.
They're saying there's no way in Hades they can ever learn anything from you.
They won't change.
You've wasted your breath.
That's a helluva lot worse than saying "I'm not convinced. I think you're wrong."
That kind of 'capitulation' makes any affirmation you get seem worthless and a lie.

I like the way you put it much better. It totally explains my feelings on the subject ever so much better, and 80% less bitchy too. ;D
So, what she said.

Not making the obvious joke in that some nerves here are a leetle bit frayed.
I can be wrong. I can be completely wrong. If we still had access to the "Origins" thread on the 'Tome we could witness just how stubbornly wrong I can insist upon being sometimes.
I honestly was being humorous, which is why I referenced and acknowledged your anticipated displeasure in my very post.
Didn't mean to be an ass.
Well, I did, but in a humorous way.
It is a very silly teevee show, and one I wish was a little better conceived than it seems to be about three hours in.
I'm sorry I made you upset. #hug#
It's been way too long since someone dropped a hat in here.

We are aware you weren't being deliberately antagonistic or an asshole.
If you get out of line, those who love you will compassionately critique you.
Much as Willow did Warren.
(We can yank chains,too. )

There's always torture first.
Well, unless you're in a real hurry I suppose. Sometimes you just don't have time for torture so it's straight to the flaying.
