I've just watched a movie that I'm very touched by and there are a few piano accompanyments in there that I liked to have - unfortunately, the movie doesn't seem to have a soundtrack release. Do you think there are anyways to actually get these somehow? Anyway, have a great new year everyone. I'm not exactly sure what to make of the new year yet.

Just out of curiosity, what was the name of the movie?
You could always rent the DVD and hold a tape recorder up to the TV speakers. ;D
Seriously though, there are programs out there that will pull songs from DVDs as mp3s, but I'm not sure how legal they are.
If you just play the DVD on your computer I wonder if the windows sound recorder would record.
Anyone have any better ideas?

There are ways to extract the audio files from a DVD - then, you'd have to put the audio file into an audio editor and isolate the parts you want, then save them as seperate files.
And I think you're right about being able to record audio "live" as the DVD is playing, Auntie.

thanks for the input The problem with taking the music off the video is that you also get all the sound effects, and voice overs. Im not even sure if the whole song was played. *shrugs* The movie btw (cant believe I didnt mention it before) is called 'The Trip', the 2002 version. I havent had many movies touched me like this in a while and although it has its fault - it was enjoyable.
