I was watching Desperate Housewives on TV earlier on (not my favourite show, but I was watching it anyway), and I got to thinking about those little touches that some modern shows have that really make a difference, and add an extra touch of class.
The titles - on DH, you have to admit that the title sequence is very cool. The excellent animation coupled with the music is so much better than the title sequences of older shows. It sets the tone, and is nicely quirky - it's just as much a part of the show as anything else. Then you have the voice-over by the dead woman. Yet another nice touch.
And on shows like LOST - the slow reveal of information. The flashbacks. The interconnectedness of things. The way that a situation is shown form more than one point of view, not always in the same episode. And even the minimal title sequence.
OK, so it's not much of an insight.....lol. I just felt it had to be said.
