I can't watch movies about aliens, I can't even watch E.T. without getting a bit scared. I saw Signs and I had nightmares, I couldn't sleep for a week but I remeber having this weird dream about funny teddy bear aliens that came out of my closet. They were trying to take me and my family away. I threw a teddy at them and they died but they just wouldn't go away.
The night my auntie died my brother started pointing down the hallway and started saying he could see her. The cat was acting weird, it was smooching up against something but there was nothing there, it did it in the middle of the floor. My neighbor said she felt someone put there hand on her shoulder but when she turned around there was nothing, my mum also got the feeling someone was watching her.

This is not a spooky thing that has actually happened to me, but it is a spooky place near where I live.
I always here about this place on the news around Halloween. They turned this place into a bed and breakfast in St. Louis so if anyone ever visits St. Louis MO - and has the balls to stay here - well here's an article about the place:
I've always wanted to stay there, but I have never gotten around to it.
If you're interested, here's another article you can read about the place. It goes into more detail about the history of the family: www.legendsofamerica.com/MO-LempMansion.html

Most of you have heard of the book and the movie, The Exorcism.
Did you know that it was based on a true story that took place in St. Louis in 1949?
I always wondered about the details of the true story and I ran across this link today when I was researching stuff about The Lemp Mansion:www.prairieghosts.com/exorcist.html
It's a pretty interesting read.
So, does anyone else have stories about real hauntings in your city?

Melbourne has a few haunted houses, but they are more in the country than the city. I will look em up after. I love this kind of stuff, its amusing.

From what my mother told me that "The Exorcist" was based on a story about a girl from Washington, DC, specifically the Georgetown area of DC.

No, the real kid was a boy. They changed it to a girl in the book.
The boy was originally from Maryland (if I remember correctly), but his Mom had family in St. Louis. The actual Exorcism was performed in St. Louis.
It's fascinating stuff really.
In other news, apparently the stuff about the house in Amityville - which is supposed to be based on a true story - was a hoax.

No, the Amityville house was supposedly possessed.
The house was rumored to cause a man to murder his entire family.
Then the people who moved in after that supposedly saw lots of horrible things in the house - which drove them to leave.
Turns out it was all made up. The guy did murder his family - but it was the son not the father.
The people who bought the house after that just wanted to get out of their mortgage.
If you want to read more about the hoax, here's a link: www.prairieghosts.com/amityville.html

That plot sounds vaguely familiar. I'm not sure what the movie is though.
I've seen far too many scary movies to remember all of them. ;D

I have seen lots of scary movies, I used to get scared of watching Freddie Krugar when I was little, my mum made up a thing that if I wasn't good, Pin Head would come and take me away so I tried to be as good as possible then when I got older and didn't believe it anymore.

I liked "The Shining," myself. Very creepy.
Spookiest thing ever happened to me? I spent five years in college, graduated with honors, and have turned in award-winning work every place I've worked and I'm still in NORTH DAKOTA!!!
It could happen to you!

They said the *Mothman Prophecies* was based on a true story. Hint: Moth. Man. Say it slowly, now. When it comes to horror movies, it's good to put extra emphasis on the last two sylables.

You don't have any really scary stories to tell?
I could tell a few spooky stories - but I should be doing my homework right now so I probably should hope right on top of that.
Talk about scary. ;D
