Well, if you'd like to see The Year Without a Santa Claus it will be showing on ABC Family on December 2 at 7pm.
I'm not sure if that's Central or Eastern time though.
I got it out of the Holiday preview thing in TV Guide. I'm not sure what time zone they list the preview times in since it's part of an article.
Rudolph will be on this Wed. night at 7, I believe on CBS.

Some christmas movie points -Herbie, the Elf who wants to be a dentist is in the original Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (which turns 40 this year) Also featured were Yukon Cornelius (who throws his 'pick' up and down in the air while searching for Silver and Gold as sung about by the snowman narrator voiced by Burl Ives. What Yukon Cornelius, or indeed Herbie, does with Yukon's stick is nobody's business but their own. Yukon, Herbie, and Rudolph run away because Santa and Blitzen (Rudolphs dad) are essentially being enourmous dicks to them so they take off. (This always bugged me as a kid. Blitzens just the worst parent EVER) On their journey they meet the island of Misfit Toys (nobody wants a CHARLEY in a box!) and are menaced by the Abomidable snowman (Bumbles bounce!) A Christmas Story is in fact the greatest christmas movie ever. My love for it is so great that I've even watched 'It runs in the family' the disappointing and non-christmas related sequel many times We also watch The Ref every year. I thought we were the only ones I have never seen It's a wonderful life. Yes, I'm the one.

You know, originally no reason in particular- I;d just never happened to have seen it. But I confess, the last few years its become kind of a thing for me. Everyone has that same reaction when they find out you haven't seen it

I'm right there with you. It wasn't one of those Christmas movies that my family watched when I was a kid. Then I started to avoid it out of spite since it was on almost 24 hours a day. Now it's kind of a badge of honor that I haven't seen it.

YES YES YES AUNTIE! You are so totally right on the money. It's totally a spite thing for me too. Everybody always gets so indignant that it made me want to continue to avoid seeing it for as long as possible. We should form a club...

I never watched until last year, I was in the club, and I just fell in love with it. So much so, I am writing an 8 page paper on how it reflects American values, due Friday at 10.

They USED to show that movie a hundred times every Christmas, which was ruining it, now it's only on once, maybe twice.

*sidenote * there are two characters in the movie, their names are Bert and Ernie. The late Jim Henson did acknowledge that he named the muppets of the same names after those characters.

They made us watch it in school 3 years ago. Prior to that I'd never seen it.
