If it was as good as last evening she wouldn't be here.
And ... that's not a stake.

Hey! Been debating with someone on the Buffy forum at Tv.com about Buffy's death in "The Gift". The "Buffy should've Ended at Season 5" thread has gone astray from the original topic. Now it's turned into the 'suicide thread' all because I said that that's what Buffy did in "The Gift", and that it really didn't make her a hero, but a coward. (I have my reasons ).

They're stupid reasons.
She's not committing suicide. [anthony hopkins] Suicide is incidental. [/anthony hopkins] She's saving this entire plane of being.
That's pretty damn' heroic.

For no greater love can a Slayer have than she will lay down her life for her ... well, for her sister, most immediately, but yeah, for her friends -- for this entire plane of existence, actually.
You didn't think that was the only dragon in there, did you?
And more to the point, you just -- out loud -- posted that sacrificing oneself to save the entire world is cowardly. * shakes head *

Just Buffy. If it had been Dawn...or someone else, in a stable mind, sacrificing their life for others in general isn't cowardly. Like Doyle. What he did was heroic. But I don't believe Buffy was in a stable mind. Like I mentioned in that thread, she had lost her boyfriend. Lost her mother. And dealing with Glory pretty much weakened her at the end of the season. Even in "The Gift" she was still gloomy and talking about quiting her job as a Slayer. In the end it seemed that Buffy used the "saving the world" card just to get out of this world. She could've let Dawn jump, after all Dawn was willing to do that,(and in Season 7 she told Giles that she would've let Dawn jump, knowing what she knows now). So...that's how I feel about it. And my reasons aren't stupid.

Oooh I dunno, saving the world even though it doesn't deserve it or has been lousy to you seems like an awfully familiar story to me. Now where could I have heard that before?
I wonder if in that afforementioned story did that person have some crummy things happen to them, and loose people they cared about? Do you think that person just said, life has been great to me, but hey, I need to save the world, so I'd better just sacrifice myself real quick so that everyone else is OK? Seems to me that person felt a lot of the worlds pain too before he went out. Seems I recall he took on a LOT of suffering before he died.....Wow, what a fecking coward these people are for just up and quitting just to save our sorry @sses
Meh, but what do I know about such stories?

*Wonders in with the large blanket*
Hi all. I think I'm getting a cold.
Why does something always happen to me around my birthday. I mean, I've fallen down stairs, been hit in the face with basketballs, gotten into a massive fights with friends and most of this happens around my birthday. I know its not until Tuesday but I have important forms to hand in to one of my teachers and work. I'm going to be too sick to leave the house probably.
Also Bango, your whole thing about Buffy not being in her right state of mind when she jumped off Glory's tower. Its a stupid theory.
