I guess that what I was responding to was that this was not the stereotypical review that tried to shoehorn in a 'proper' message or bemoan the fact that the movie wasn't a doctrinally correct homily nor did it dismiss it or lambaste it for being secular.
Rather,it seemed to point out valid principles within the movie and admire how it succeeded at portraying its vision.
Yes, zealots are dangerous.
Yes,freedom matters.
Truth matters.
Love is the most powerful force out there.
People in Serenity don't have to buy a certain ideology to get things right in that Mal doesn't have to become a holy roller,Inara and Book don't have to dismiss their faith and even the belief in a better,man-made world can stay.
What does have to change is an awareness of reality and a willingness to let the genuine, rational and honorable parts of life take precedence over the base and empty.
If that message can be celebrated by a site that goes out to folks that might not see a film based on a failed t.v. series otherwise, then they can integrate its premise into their faith and into their everyday lives.
They can become Browncoats! Yay!!!
We know the regular movie sites and fan pages would like the Firefly saga.
We need to go beyond preaching to the converted.
This link was one small hint that was being accomplished.
May they all keep Serenity in their hearts.
Book and 'Verse.....

P.S.
I'm not sure they meant that River was deliberately reaching out to God.
Just that her scene typified what happens when folks do have to beg for deliverance.
(Even to asking: "Let this cup pass from me.")
A stone might be immune from feeling but God has offered to use people and stones to build his dreams.
According to believers, when the weak and victimized are finally empowered, their very chains become weapons and they become VERY adept at kicking tuckis.
That fits with River who goes beyond the intent of her enemies (even the well-meaning ones) in using her curse as a source of liberation beyond her own need.
She doesn't have to be a good little Sunday School heroine to embody what your average seeker seeks.
She just has to be what Joss promotes in his good guys:
Competent, caring individuals doing what needs to be done however they can.

For those who are fans of RPG's and Marvel comics. Marvel and Activision are creating a game like X-Men Legends called Marvel Legends.

Um ... yay.
Though I'd hope they revamp the engine somewhat. X-men Legends 2 got boring pretty fast.

I like the possibility of future legends getting exposure with this RPG much as the clix games have done.
Not only can established stars be introduced to non-fen but supporting characters can become defined and get to reveal their mettle.
The more breadth the Marvel universe has,the more room it has for depth.
(Gotta get the mechanics working,tho)

If they make a 3rd game, Polaris better be a playable character and some thing in a giant test tube.

OK, I think the reason I most miss the Bible thread is because I miss q's theology.
It's like rats and their, um, pleasure button, tho.
We just can't leave it alone and it just gets out of hand.
That was beautifully stated, tho.
Even if the scene in question did come hard on the heels of suicidal fantasies.

Goodnight, Auntie, and congrats on the crown achievement.
* hopes Cordy isn't right on her heels again * ;D
You have to make 2,894 posts to catch up with me here. Actually, make that 2,895 posts.
So, did anyone miss me? I was so miserable yesterday at work. My eyes started burning for no reason at all right after breakfast. I spent the last few hours of my shift with burning eyes plus I felt kinda faint. I was in grill for 8 hours straight. I think the UHC cabinets dryed out my eyes.
When I finally got to leave the sun just about fried my eyes out of my sockets. I had to drive with my hands shielding my eyes. Probably not the safest thing in the world. When I got home I took a nice hot bubble bath by candlelight since light really hurt.
I must have looked bad because Enzo was asking if there was anything he could do for me. My eyes were really bloodshot. I looked like I was either possessed or on drugs.
After my bath I went to bed. I didn't wake up again until 3:00 a.m. I felt bad today too but I think mostly because I went to bed without eating last night. I was pretty shaky for the first part of the day. I felt better after eating on my break. I even ate protein like q'cat suggested the other day.
At least my eyes weren't burning today though. It really sucks to be a big baby about eye drops. I think if I could actually use them I wouldn't have gone through hell yesterday.
I have eye phobia. I don't want anything touching my eyes and I can't watch anything touching anyone else's eyes either.
Right now I'm head-achy and I still want to sleep but I'm trying to make myself stay awake for a little while longer. I think I'm getting a sinus infection. Those things always knock me on my @ss.
It's this stupid weather. It's been 60 the past couple of days, after being 20. It's going to be back in the 30's on Friday. It plays havoc with my allergies. That and working with the public puts me around way too many sick people.
On a lighter note, I got my Serenity things from the Browncoats site the other day. I have my Serenity patch and window cling. They're shiny. ;D
