No, I don't smoke. Although I'm probably half dead already from my relatives smoking around me.

i know what you mean D. my relatives smoke and they yap on about crap . my greek relatives are hazardous to my health, they try to force feed me and i hate it so i stay away from em, they smoke alot too. lots of people from my school smoke and because of this my school has become stricter about things. we cant go to the toilet with out a note and we also need a key from the office just to get in during class time.

Me and ciggies have had a long relationship. Unfortunately I have no one to blame but myself...and maybe my older sister for making me smoke a whole pack when she found me trying one of her smokes. My mom and dad, neither smoked. I think I would have put them down after that one but for my sister's "intervention". Man o man was that gross. But NOOO I had to smoke a whole pack at once. After I barfed, I was ready to smoke another one.
I was 11 and I haven't put them down since.

You know what's really stupid?
I didn't start smoking until I was 25 years old.

That was, what, about 7 years ago? Clinton was in office and life was good. There was no end in sight on the internet stock explosion, new life, new love, and you were a fashionable young man in the Twin Cities with your whole life ahead of you. How could you not?

I never got into ciggies. My parents both chain smoke so I'm sure I have the lungs of a smoker.
I just always thought they smelled horrible, and taste nasty. I never had the desire to smoke. Such a waste of money.
All my friends were smokers though. So were all the guys I've dated. I don't think I've ever been out with a non smoker. Very strange - though livestock guy doesn't smoke so maybe I should go out with him .
I am addicted to chocolate though. Lots and lots of chocolate. And I do drink on occation, though I've been going out on Saturday's a lot here lately its not really the norm for me.
So why didn't you leave us non smokers an option on the poll?

Like Dr Feigy, I started young - 14. I've tried and so far failed to quit.
But recently I met a hypnotherapist through the my course who said he'd hypnotise me for free!
Anyway, that should be happening soon, and I'm nervous as hell about it.
*light's up*

Not that you asked for an opnion about it TS, but I am very skeptical about trying to quit through hypnosis. I haven't tried it myself but I've read lots about it. The trick is that it can kinda wear off after a while. But if it holds up for at least 6 weeks, than there's a good chance you won't be tied to mistress Ciggy anymore. And in your case, it's free so there's nothing to loose.... Unless he plants some other suggestions in your head while he's at it... oh but I'm sure that won't happen hehe

Well, he did seem a bit shifty.... He did graduate in psychology after all - not treading on any toes am I Dr.? ;D No, actually he works as a hypnotherapist in my area, and gave me quite an extensive pre-hypnosis interview (which, unfortunately included some naff suggestions - such as "keep your ciggies in another room, then you will have to make an effort to smoke them" - yeah, 'cos THAT works!) But, as you say, I have nothing to lose (I think?) Except my addiction to ciggies. What did you hear anyway about this kind of quitting technique anyway? * offers one beautiful grape to Bitterman* I wonder if he'll enjoy it?

WHAT?! Leave ciggies in the next room?! Why, some unprincipled sonofab*tch would be giving them oral within seconds! I should know, I must have nicked a couple dozen from various packs lying around Caritas.
Ohhh, a beautiful tobacco and chemical flavored grape. Don't mind if I do, TS. But I'm gonna step outside for it, I hate the way the things make the house smell.
;D
