In my latest video (which at this point is my Dru and Spike one). I really went to town on the special effects. The excuse is that it fits the mood of the video....which it does....but the real reason is that I just like playing with shiny toys....lol I made extensive use of motion blur - which is exceptionally easy to do - and it's all done in VirtualDub, as well. Here's how: - Load a clip into VirtualDub - one that you've already created ready to be used in Movie Maker.
- From the VIDEO menu, ensure that Full Processing mode and DiVX compression are selected, then click on FILTERS.
- Click on ADD, then scroll down until you see MOTION BLUR. Select it and click OK (For a more pronounced effect, add it more than once - I used 4 at the same time on the clips in my video). then once you see it in the "added" list click OK to leave the filters page.
- Save out the clip with an appropriate file name.
And there you go - shiny motion blur! On clips that have mixture of motion and stillness - the "still" elements don't get blurred, only the moving ones....which looks exceptionally cool, I think!

I agree. It did look exceptionally cool. I'm hoping to get some time during my vacation to play with the shiny video toys. First I need a good video idea though. I've had several run through my head but so far none I really want to work on just yet.
