Oh my GOD, did that hurt!
OK, I don't know how badly my body needed nicotine just then or how inattentive I've actually become, but this morning I bit pretty much through my tongue while chewing a piece of nicotine gum.
It has largely stopped bleeding and the, um, iron taste has mostly left my mouth, but I'm wondering how committed to this I am.
The quit was going ok when I was at home. If my body basically decided it was time for a nap voilà! – a nap it would have. If I decided I really didn't have the focus to do this or that project, the project would remain undone and I would be fine with that.
Here, back at work, all sorts of stuff just needs to get done and I'm swimming in a damn' fog.
I haven't walked next door to buy a pack. I'm not going to. But I am just so out of it right now.
The last few days have been ok. I watched a lot of "Veronica Mars" on DVD and the first thing I noticed was that the discs were crap. I had to play disc one on my computer to get it to work at all, and the second one, the audio cut out halfway through the last mystery so I had subtitles on the whole time. Which basically is a sucky way to watch.
And it was worth all of the trouble. The parts I stayed awake for (see above re: "borderline narcolepsy") were just some of the best writing and superior storytelling I've encountered.
Kristin Bell's Veronica Mars is fantastic. I'm intrigued by her character's history (especially after she meets the guy in prison) and really, more than that, it's amazing how immediately important Lilly Kane becomes as a character -- even one who's been dead for a year -- and how interested I am in what could've happened to her. She is one charismatic ball of energy and a vibrant spirit. I'm looking forward to renting the rest of the story and to S3 this fall.
Great nuanced characters and storytelling. Joss and Kevin Smith are good judges of what's worth our while (and then all the rest of you as well).
Beyond that I've been walking when I can and I'm going to start swimming again soon (the pool has been closed for maintenance). I wish my energy levels were higher but for right now I'm riding this out.
For being gone for five days, work is going pretty well.
I just really can't believe my time off went as quickly as it did.
