I got a pony, a plastic rocket, and a ... Just kidding.
No, I got lots of bath stuff in all different flavors from various people, a shiny glittery candle, a new wallet with some kitties on it, a few odds and ends from my Mother (sugar cookie mix with cookie cutter, some dollies that are actually cute, and a refrigerator magnet that looks like a fly swatter), Season One of Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries (twice actually. My Mom and my sister so need to start communicating with each other on these things. Every year they end up getting me the same thing), Season One of Lost, Season Two of 21 Jump Street, Kingdom Hospital; The Beginning on dvd (I asked for the entire season but I guess my Mom didn't know what that meant so I got the first two eps instead), plus The Ben Stiller Show on dvd - the Lucky Clovers commercial is just as funny as I remember. ;D
Enzo got lots of cool stuff including a portable dvd player from his Grandpa. I got him Season One of The Simpsons, the Beavis and Butthead Mike Judge collection, the new Korn cd, a few PSII games as well as The Sims II.
So we now have lots of cool new things to do.

Well, I didn't get Serenity. I guess Santa had too many brownies. I'll have to run out and pick up the DVD todat.
I got a 3D puzzle of the Earth. (I love maps and globes ;D) A White Sox World Series ornament. Earrings and a necklace. A Sudoku book.
My sister in law gave me this carved frog that had ridges down its back. It also has a stick that you rub on the ridges and it sounds like the frog is croaking.
I like it, but all I could think of was Jayne's "Dumbass stick that sounds like it's raining." ;D

Yes flavors. I got stuff like cinnabon flavored bubble bath and body lotion. It smells like cinnamon rolls. Plus Blueberry & peppermint foot boost, Peach & passionflower mask, Cherry & licorice soothing leg balm, some bath stuff that smells like candy, some Gingerbread pumkin shower gel, plus various fizzy bath ball things.

i'm glad y'all got such neat gifts. I got a horde of nice little things. lavendar bath stuff, vanilla lotion, a journal, address book, pen,a tote bag, a silver candle,a rhinestone dragonfly pin from the 1920's, a purple and red feather boa, notepaper,a small (homemade) wooden box with a butterfly on top and Jim gave me a set of painted 'Victorian adventurers' and steampunk modules to go with them. My critters gave me a new crockpot to replace the one that nobody knocked off the counter. I know what they get as an allowance so they must have been saving very thriftily ever since the incident. I also got a genuine 'Mr. Fantastic' grabbing stick that I can use to fetch things off shelves. It doesn't give me quite the reach Reed Richards has but it'll do. I wish I'd gotten binoculars and a field guide. I have this sudden urge to look for the rare and elusive purple-bellied Browncoat.

I got a very cool card and a letter from Cordy with some penguins on it being zoomed by "Serenity," and my sister and I of course got each other the BDDVD. I got some nice dress shirts and socks and a calendar and a portrait photo and a singing snowman from my mom (currently my only concession to the holiday in my living room), along with some cash to get me a little closer to my new computer (I'll be getting the rest of the money tomorrow with my paycheck, so whoo hoo -- probably within the next month I'll have a semi-decent setup) and a ceramic dog and a music box from the guy crashing at my place (I feel more than a little bit regifted, but like everything else I own, these things will end up on stage at some point). And a friend down in Shreveport sent a really cool dream catcher, so now I have one of those, too.
The computer will be built by my bf-in-law. I asked him how much, ultimately, he needed to put the whole thing together and he should be getting back to me with a number tomorrow. Ideally, once it's all set up, I'll have internet cable, a bigger monitor, a copier/printer type setup and certainly more memory than I've ever had to play around with. I will be able to record directly onto DVDs, which will make for some excellent screencap manipulation possibilities, and I should be able to transfer my VHS tapes to DVDs, which I understand is a picky sort of arrangement but I'm willing to put in the effort because I've got more than 400 of them, some dating back to the 1980s, and they currently take up four shop-sized shelves. If I can even get half of them transferred, storage at my place becomes far less of a premium. Also, my sister is hooking me up with a much better spyware and virus protection than I currently have, too, which, since it's all but nonexistent now, should make for better computing.
Currently, I prefer to chat at work because our system is better than mine.
Soon, I'll probably not want to go into work at all.
And if they hook me up with QuarkXpress, I might never need to go to work ever again.
But all I'm expecting, really, is a decent version of Word.
The question is now this: If I e-mail myself the things I'd like to transfer from this machine to the next -- sending the text in body copies of e-mails to my online account and retrieving it from there (rather than sending attachments) -- am I putting myself at any serious risk of transferring whatever might be lurking in my current system to my next one? My sister says that I am, whereas I'm unconvinced. My online webmail has all kinds of filters.
Thoughts? Opinions? Heffalumps?

Heffalumps.
If I had to recommend, I'd say get a flash drive/thumb drive to transfer your work documents. They're small, portable, relatively cheap, and easy to use.
Email's mostly fine, but the thing is that most companies have a policy againts their employee sending out work sensitive information out on email. You might want to check with them first.

It took me almost 2 weeks to finish that. I loved Nightcrawler, but he was a bitch to use.
