I've been feeling better about things lately. In, y'know, general.
As of yesterday I'd hit my walking goal for the week. I was going to head out tonight but I thought it made more sense to take a break. I've been feeling a bit logy the past few days and coming back from 3- and 4-mile walks just feeling drained. Which is acceptable, but not wonderful.
Tuesday was a bit of a problem because my sweatpants kept coming off.
Seriously. I just got these things and they wouldn't stay on. I was worried that they'd be too tight. Not an issue. The big problem was that they were too long. I finished hemming them today and maybe I won't be stepping on them the whole time.
Yeah, they have a drawstring and everything. It was irritating because I'd gotten a coffee and I couldn't even hold them up properly.
So yes, the losing weight thing is happening, mostly. I've only wanted to bite people's heads off very occasionally at work, though today, oh, if I'd found a piece of nicotine gum stuck for the past month under my desk I might've chewed it.
Last week our TVWeek went out with this huge, unmissable error on the front cover that our layout person made and our editor somehow missed. I told him that I had some time during the week and I was willing to be another set of eyes on this booklet.
So yesterday I ran a pen through the copy after he'd looked at it and I found a few things.
So today while I'm in the middle of something else our layout person comes over and says if I'm going to edit her pages I need to use a different color pen.
I'm sorry, but she's so irritating. I really can't convey it in print but I said I'd made the corrections and circled them so they'd stand out. and she's right back at my desk pointing at the one that I hadn't (and not the other 8 that I had).
These were above and beyond what our editor had found, btw. I said I would, and she grumbled something about sneaking around behind her back.
I swear to G-d I was about to lose it. I occasionally have to really search around for someone in the office to proof my pages. I was mortified by our TVWeek this week (there was a photo of Charles Gibson with the "ABC World News with Charles Gibson" sign behind him and the caption called him "Charles Banner.")
So I want our product to be as good as it can be, and I told her that I was just horrified by her mistake and wanted to be another set of eyes on it. And I was. And I did find a number of errors before we made 30,000 copies of them.
She said "Well I'm not perfect" and I said no, neither am I (and I did not add that that was a rather unmissable error that both she and my editor missed and you don't have to be perfect so much as literate).
But she was just intensely unpleasant to me for the rest of the day.
What the frak. I have the time and the willingness to take on additional work to improve our product and if that puts her nose out of joint maybe she can exact her revenge by not making so many errors.
Anyway, they held auditions for summer theater on Friday. I think I did OK. I don't know when I'll hear if I've been cast in anything, but I think it would be fun. I haven't been in musical theater for a good long time and it might be nice to get back into it.
My singing audition had a couple of flaws, but I nailed the monologue, and really, it's easier to sing with an accompaniment and I think they get that.
I called and was told that they'd call if and when they decided on anything.
So between them and the really cool idea I had for marketing iPods that I told Apple about and about which no one has gotten back to me yet, I'm just kind of hanging out in North Dakota and wondering ... why.
Meh. Time to go stretch out. And if nothing else, I finished most of my work for tomorrow before I left for the day, so ... well, I'm sure I'll come up with something to do.
Night all.
