Back in the day, they said study time outside of class should be
at LEAST as much as
the time in class.
(Anything over twice that was probably overkill,however...)
That's 16 hours for education and eight hours for sleep.
That doesn't leave a lot of time for maintaining physical and spiritual health.
(Nor for jobs to earn the money to go to school, etc.)
Reb,you're probably as good a student as Hermione Granger but you probably lack
her ability to steal hours for sleep and other aspects of real life and take several classes
in the same one hour period.
You might need to cut back on your demands on yourself even if it takes more time
and results in a 3.6 instead of a 4.0.
You need to mentally metabolize what you learn and make it a part of you.
Otherwise, you regurgitate facts come test time but you have nothing to show for your
stress but a worn-out body and spirit.
Take time to LIVE and you'll learn more ,feel better AND grow more as a person.
If you *must* work every waking hour,do a work study or something where you're
applying what you've mastered or acquire new skills.
Work in a shelter or where you can pick up Sign or Spanish, etc.
Do a local mission from your church, school,United Way,VISA or the like.
A semester off or one with one light class could free you up to 'test-drive' what you
want to be doing after school plus it'll give you good professional contacts.
Develop some 'portable' skills for back-up.
You can tell that being skilled, personable, bright and willing isn't enough to get a person
the job he or she needs.
Just ask Feigie,Cordy,Py,etc.
All of them are underutilized.
You need to enjoy the time you're being constructed and take care to develop all your
resources while you're still young,free and a work-in-progress.
You won't have as much chance to fit that in later on.
Good Luck and have fun,sweetie.
(And the BEST wishes to Feigie!!! )
