It's been 3 years since I've blogged here. How crazy is that? Anyway, I so need a private space to bitch about work right now so I figured it was high time to annoy or possibly entertain you guys with more McDonald's exploits.
The new owners took over 11 days ago and I really want my old bosses back. They needed to retire but it sucks that they're not our bosses anymore. They really cared about all of us. I think that's why so many of us have stayed for as long as we have.
Now everyone is talking about getting new jobs. Especially the managers. I am so glad I'm not a manager anymore. I don't think I told you guys I stepped back down a couple of years ago. It was too stressful and the pay wasn't that much better. I got to thinking why in the hell am I giving up Monday - Friday days for just a few more cents an hour? So I said, "Screw this put me back down to crew."
So far the new owners haven't said anything about making those of us who don't do weekends work on weekends but the way they're changing things around for the managers I can see that coming eventually.
I just found out today that they demoted our Supervisor - who oversaw about 7 stores at one point - into a store manager. And to top it off she's going to be the store manager of our lowest volume store. Her Mom - who is our opening manager - told me that Laura is also having to take a 25% pay cut.
The current store manager of Fredericktown is being demoted to a regular swing manager. She won't even be a salary manager anymore. That's just crazy!
And the new owner is moving Bruce to Arcadia Valley because she like Jennifer better - she actually said that. Where people could hear her.
I was on my break and I heard Ed trying to talk Chrissy - one of the new owners - into keeping Bruce and moving Jen instead.
She told him that she really liked Jen and preferred to keep her and send Bruce to the other store.
This sucks on so many levels. Bruce has way more experience and this will make him have a 30 minute commute. He's just not a kiss ass like Jen is.
Jen just came to our store from Fredericktown 4 or 5 months ago. She got moved to our store because she couldn't get along with her sister - who was the Fredericktown store manager.
When she came here she was bossy and rude to everyone so they all call her Jaba The Hut behind her back.
Which isn't nice but then again neither was she. She has mellowed a bit since then but I would much rather work with Bruce.
The new owner also took away our incentive for meeting our goals. Ed, who is our store manager, started a program where if we meet our goals for the rush periods we get to draw a piece of candy out of a big bucket. There is another prize attached to the candy. It's taped on and can be anything from a paid break to various food prizes.
Our times have greatly improved since he started this program. Everyone loves getting chocolate and it's fun to see what your extra prize is.
The new owners are tight wads and they don't like the idea of giving free stuff away and they really hate the idea of giving people paid breaks. So we have to discontinue the prizes taped to the candy, but we can still have a whole piece of candy when we make our goal.
Ed actually had to talk her into letting us use the prizes we've already won. She wasn't going to let us cash those in. I have so many things for free sandwiches and such that it's unreal. I would be pissed if I didn't get to have something I had already won.
They do some things that are okay. I like getting free meals on our breaks again. I especially love that I can have orange juice again.
But we can't have refills on our drinks and anytime we get a quick drink it has to be water.
I don't mind drinking water myself - though it is so freaking cold you can't drink it fast - but everyone else is so used to having soda that they're freaking out because they can't have it.
Laura - the old supervisor - said that she picked up her daughter from school and her daughter had a pepsi. She grabbed it out of her daughter's hand and her daughter asked, "What's wrong with you?" She told her that she hadn't had soda all day and she really needed a drink of one.
I hope things get better but we haven't even had two weeks with them and things already suck.
I so need a new job.
