McDonald's has so much drama you have no idea. We could seriously write a Soap Opera.
So, a month or two ago – probably two because it was before the Cancer stuff started – this guy named Mark and I kind of got into it at work. He was on meat and I was in control of the cabinet. I kept telling him that he only had one tray of grilled chicken. He'd answer me but then wouldn't start cooking any. Bonnie asked him if he needed help getting it down and he told her no.
So we took a bunch of grilled chicken and I kept saying how many pieces I was leaving but he still didn't put any down. So we ended up out of grilled chicken and he still hadn't put any down. By this time Chrissy, one of our new owners, had come to help us in grill area. She got upset because we were out of grilled chicken, but instead of saying something to the guy on meat she started getting on to me since I was in cabinet control. I told her that I had repeatedly told him he was running out of grilled chicken and she basically said I was lying because she hadn't heard me say anything about it since she got up there.
Well that pissed me off. I wasn't lying, I had told him he needed to put some down and he had answered me!! I told her that Bonnie had even asked him if he needed help putting it down and he told her no. So instead of backing me up Bonnie says, “That was a long time ago.” and I was like “Exactly!” He needed to put it down then and he never did which is why we're out!
So by this time Michelle and Jen notice I'm upset and ask me why. I tell them what's going on and they both backed me up – even though they were up front. They both said they heard me tell him to put some down. Jen told Chrissy that she was upsetting a crew person instead of going after the manager in charge of grill – which was Bonnie. I really think she should have said something to Mark since he's the one that wasn't doing his job but Bonnie should definitely have taken the brunt of her anger since she was in grill control – you know, if she wasn't going to yell at the person who was actually doing something wrong.
So after this I kept on Mark during the rest of lunch rush. As soon as he filled one tray I was on him to fill the next tray until he had all three of them filled. I was not getting my ass chewed for him again! He didn't even bother to tell me he was sorry for getting me in trouble. He just acted like he didn't do anything wrong, and then had the nerve to be pissed at me.
I didn't work with him again for a couple of weeks. The next time I worked with him I was mostly over it and was just going to be nice. Well it was just the two of us in grill for awhile and he wasn't talking at all. This was unusual for him since he's usually very chatty. So I asked him why he was so quiet. He told me, “I don't know. I guess I got up on the wrong side of the bed or something.”
Later on when Michelle came in I noticed he got a little more chatty. When I went on break he was suddenly talking up a storm. This is when I realized he was probably still pissed at me which is insane since he wasn't doing his job and I'm the one that got my ass chewed.
The next day I said something to Michelle about it and she told me that Mark was still mad at me. It wasn't in my head.
I didn't work with him again for another couple of weeks. The next time I did he still didn't say much to me. I just let it go. I thought it was silly that the guy didn't even have the balls to tell me he's mad at me, especially since he really doesn't have to right to be mad.
A couple of days ago I worked with him again. This time he talked to me. He even asked me if Brad and I were back together. I told him we were and he said, “I saw that one coming.” Then he asked, “What happened to the problem with you not wanting to move in with him?” I told him that we were trying to work on that.
I didn't think much of it until today when I went to lunch with Pete. This is where everything goes all soap opera on my ass.
Today Pete tells me that Mark was talking to someone and showing them a text his girlfriend sent him - this was back when the event first happened. Pete walked over and saw the text. Mark's girlfriend was telling him she was going to come kick my ass. She's almost 50 – and he's in his 30's – and she was going to come beat me up because he's too stupid to do his job? How stupid is that? Pete told Mark that he could get fired for threatening me like that and if his girlfriend ever came in the store while I was working he'd have her kicked out.
I laughed about it. I mean how lame is that? What, he can't fight his own battles? I never told Brad that he had to beat up Mark because he was an ass to me at work and got me in trouble. Why in the hell would this girl want to beat me up? Why would Mark even think that was okay? The guy has a screw loose somewhere.
Pete said apparently Mark didn't believe him about getting fired so he went around asking several other managers if that was true. They all told him it was so he finally shut up about it.
So then Pete starts telling me about Mark and Patty. Patty is another manager. She's close to 50 and she mostly closes. Mark has mostly been working nights since all this happened which is why I don't work with him very often. One night Mark and Patty were waiting for her daughter to come pick them up. Mark had just found out his girlfriend was cheating on him with one of his friends. He was upset and I guess wanted revenge sex or something. Not sure what was going on in Patty's mind.
Apparently they were sitting out in lobby looking at porn on her laptop. The store was locked so no customers were inside but that's still not appropriate. One of the other managers told Pete they were getting a little touchy-feely out in lobby and it was grossing her out.
Finally Amanda – Patty's daughter who also works nights – came and picked them up. They both got drunk at Patty's trailer and were apparently making out. Thing is Patty is gay. She tells Pete that as far as she was concerned they were just having some fun and Mark knew that. Anyway, she gets up to go to the bathroom. When she comes back in the room Mark is naked on her bed and ready to go.
She tells him that they are not having sex because he's not her type and he gets upset. He gets a bit forceful with her and she throws a bottle of lotion at him and tells him to “finish himself off!” She also tells him he needs to go. Then she storms out and tells her daughter to let her know when Mark leaves.
Mark calls his friend to come get him. As he's walking out the door he turns to Amanda and asks her if she wants to have sex. Amanda say, “Hell no! Now get the f**k out!”
This all sounds like an insane made up story and it's so crazy that it's true. I just … well I don't even know what to say about this. It's just nuts.
Then Pete tells me that he was talking to our store Manager, Ed, about the Patty situation. Ed asked Pete if he heard about it and Pete tried playing dumb so he wouldn't get her into trouble.
Then Ed told Pete that her heard Mark likes me. How gross is that? Pete said that there's no way I'd go for Mark. Ed said, well how do you know? Pete said, because I'm her friend and I know she's not like that.
I told Pete I should smack Ed for even thinking that. Pete said Ed was just joking around about it. I should still smack him. I know he was joking about the me possibly liking him back but still. So very gross.
And, how does a guy that rarely sees me go from hating me because he can't do his job to liking me? I hope Ed's wrong about him possibly liking me. Though him asking me if I was back together with my boyfriend makes me wonder. I'm so having nightmares tonight.
