I mispelled my name when I was setting up. There was already a tjaman somewhere so I quickly typed in tjamanaic, with the a and the i screwed up. My bad.
I'm not personally sold on it. There are moments of static, everyone gets kicked off every so often, you can barely hear Kev, and at the end of a four-hour convo I had a splitting headache (tho I can't swear that it wasn't the topic). And at the beginning, very briefly, I was having trouble telling the difference between Cordy and Auntie, but that's probably because I hadn't really gotten used to Auntie's voice. I'm sure after a short while I'd know exactly who was talking and when. Fun to hear your voice, Auntie, and you again, Cordy
Certainly for the 'Thon I'd want something we could post afterwards. I didn't see anything to save the conversation, especially if we get kicked off and have to relink, and we've been having reasonably good luck with the Y!Mess. My vote would be to stay with it for the 'Thon, at least.
But yeah, it was ... good. And, as dez pointed out, free, which is a good price for VoIP. I don't really see a need to use Skype for the 'thons at all. That would just be way too distracting to have everyone talking out loud while we were trying to watch television. And why would you want to save the Skype convos? It's like talking on the phone. I don't want to record my phone conversations. Skype is just a way for us to get to talk to each other and visit.

If we used it for the 'thon I'd want to save it. I love the commentary we've built up on the 'thons. They are mad fun to re-read.

I haven't had much sleep. Too many thoughts to be able to sleep.
I really wouldn't see a need to use skype for the 'thons because it would be too distracting.
And the commentary is pretty fun. We are so very funny. ;D

Wish I'd known you guys were doing this. I signed up with Skype a while ago, and have only been able to try it out a couple of times (one of those times being tonight when TJ called me... really good talk, we'll have to do that again).
I have a rather surprising name as well, so you might want to write this down. Ready?
It's "grailwolf". I know, I know, it's a pretty radical departure, but I think that with time we'll all get used to it.
Anyway, I hope I can join in next time. Take care, all!

Hey, Grail, we're on Skype now...log on now. And talk to me, Cordy, and Auntie.

I did a Skype test call with the new headset with SGG and ITL, and it is not the microphone that is at issue, it is most likely the connection, and the location of the computer.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a preference about what you're called on Skype? Kind of a new territory protocol wise.
I honestly don't care what you call me as long as it's civil. ;D
If anyone does prefer their real name over their screen name (or vice versa) by all means let us know.

Oh yeah, I definately prefer my screen name over my real name. It's so terribly blah after all.
