Its hard, I want to look professional also. But I dont want boring either.
I think clients expect a little edgy from my look -- they are sitting down with a designer after all.

Good point! You have GOT to get Py's input on this.

Snowed under at work, I'm afraid.
(Not with snow, with work lol).

Getting snowed at work sucks.
That seems familar somehow.
Today is better for me. I am fiddling with this one project, but I have everything else done -- half the day is over --
AND nobody has called or emailed yet.
I might go outside for lunch with daughter.
AND I might go get the little guy from daycare earlier.

Im trying to find shoulder length hair ideas online -- in the red values.
Not having luck really getting ideas for something new.

You have great hair for flexibility.
You can tweak it a number of ways and still have the option of going in a totally opposite direction later.
Edgy is good as are glam and winsome but you can't go wrong with something basic and classic.
Most of all,it has to feel like YOU.
If it feels too 'costume-y' and isn't instantly reversible, then you'll feel as if your coiffure is wearing you instead of vice-versa.
I'd look at hair styles and colors from various cultures, eras, etc. and see what elements have had the most universal, timeless appeal.
I'd see what resonates with what your spirit wants to project.
Then, narrow that down to what fits your coloring, hair texture and body type.
From your pic,I'd say pretty much anything goes but you look so terrific with thick, sleek, darker hair that I wouldn't go too far astray from that.
(It worked for Emma Peel!)
So try looking at simple stuff that can be jazzed up (like models and actresses do) and think of the red tones you'd find on horses.
We have a lot of Celtic/Germanic brunettes here and the ones that went chestnut, sorrel, auburn (or if cool-toned,burgundy) never went wrong.
Not one in a hundred could pull off Triaminic or Vol orange without someone trying to find them some humongous shoes and a rubber nose.
(Not that you'd go that route-as I did!)
Shoulder to chin length versions of the rich reddish tones worn by Sarah Jessica Parker or Penelope Cruz look dez-irable.
Try one of those virtual hair-doey things and see what you like.

I do agree with nothing too odd. Classic is good. And honestly, I am a pony tail girl most of the time.
I might just do a clean shoulder length cut with no layers this time and try for a little redder highlights.
I can always go more drama each time.

Those look good.
Don't worry about "90's".
You have the kind of panache that you could wow the world with hair from 22 b.c. or the 24th century.
You suit yourself and if the trends follow YOU,that's fine.
That's why you'll never look dated or too outre.
You have the confidence and class of a Grecian robe,a pair of jeans or a Chanel sheath.
You breathe design which, at its best ,is imagination plus functionality plus truth.
If you let your designing soul guide you, you'll never be tasteless or boring or contrived or anything that's not who and what you are.
That's what you do for your clients.
Don't worry that you'll do any less for yourself.
