They should hire DB to do the male-enhancement commercial. And you'll notice there aren't any similar commercials for cli --- BEEP!!!!coffee break. . . . . . * sip *. . . . . . BEEP!!!--mbing Mt. Rushmore. How are we ever going to generate tourism in this part of the country without promotion?

Oh, and to comment on it being okay for boys to be disturbing but not girls. What's up with that? What difference does gender make in a disturbing conversation? If the stuff someone writes is disturbing to you it shouldn't matter whether the poster is male or female. lol... I knew people would misunderstand. It *doesnt* apply *generally*. It does apply *to me*. You see... *cough*... where I am, and my group of friends, guys ususally say these things on ocassion. And from where I'm from, girls just go 'oohh' and 'how disgusting' etc where they hear these things. So for me, it's less scary for a guy to say these things (cause my male friends do and have yet to carry out their actions), than a girl *for me*. It doesnt mean it's generally accepted or not - much like I'm scared of heights - doesnt mean everyone has to be too! *cough* *looks around sheepishly* Can we get back on topic now?

What's worse, being smited by a vengeful God, or being skewered by a bored beelzebub?

Every time you think about getting mad in here, just scroll down to look at Tealbox's paint drawing, between Buffy/Angel and Cordy/Angel. Hee hee, so cute ;D The 10 minutes I spent designing that logo have finally been justified.

Thought this little story was appropriate for The Sky Bully thread. 7-Foot Crucifix Falls, Kills Woman
POSTED: 1:33 pm EDT September 22, 2004 UPDATED: 1:35 pm EDT September 22, 2004 ROME -- A woman was killed Wednesday when a nearly 7-foot-tall metal crucifix fell on her head in a small town in southern Italy, police said.
Maddalena Camillo, 72, was walking in the main square in the village of Sant'Onofrio when the crucifix toppled from a monument being restored for a religious celebration, police said.
Sant'Onofrio is in the region of Calabria, the toe of the boot-shaped Italian peninsula, about 370 miles south of Rome.[/b] www.local6.com/news/3752047/detail.html

Meant to get going with this tonight, but with Smallville and Lost (both quite good) all my time got sucked into the boob tube.
No time to get all my backup quotes, but I can recall us to the fact that there are inconsistencies in the bible as we have it (yes, even the KJV). One cannot disprove this by simply saying "no there aren't" but at the same time one cannot prove it by saying, "yes there are". I can point out at least one without going any further than Genesis.
Tomorrow I'll get the book out and write at more length. Feel free to study up if you want to rebut. In short, I can point out one fairly obvious contradiction and also something that you've probably never noticed which goes against the most common interpretations of this book.
To be clear: I do not bear Christianity any ill will. I do not have any problem with Christians either. What I have a problem with in religion (like politics) is people who rely on what they have been told without ever thinking or reading for themselves. It disturbs me that I, a Pagan, generally have read the bible more thoroughly than the so-called Christians who try to debate me. I believe that God (however you conceive of Him/Her/It) gave us free will and intelligence for a reason. We are expected to use it. Even, or perhaps especially, where He/She/It is concerned.

Testify, brother! Sorry. Too loud. Very unseemly. I just have a vivid memory of a time when I mentioned inconsistencies in the Bible and I was verbally shot down by many others in the room. Not with actual debate, more along the lines of "how dare you say anything bad about the Bible." I look forward to your comments, grailwolf. (Stirring the pot seems appropriate here.)

Thinking about this, I'm gonna have to do a really long post. In the interest of keeping things organized, I'll make separate posts for each of my points.
Point the first: Contradictions between the bible and modern science.
The examples in this first post will all come from Genesis, just to make citations a bit easier.
What this is referring to is the creation of a solid dome (the sky) which kept the waters above it (the reason for the sky being blue in ancient belief) above us. Some of this water would escape from time to time, and this is the reason for rain. God then goes on to hang some pretty lights on this dome, which we call the sun, moon, and stars (bear in mind that he does this after there have already been a few days and then says that these lights will separate day from night).
This is obviously and blatantly false. Were it not, all of the rockets we have sent up would have bounced off. I point this out not to take random biblical potshots, but rather to point out that this is a book written by people who only had available to them the scientific knowledge of the time. Had they been privy to divine secrets, I would think that they would be a bit more knowledgeable about the structure of the atmosphere.
It is partially for this reason that I advocate the reading of the bible as poetry rather than prose. Its meanings are couched in myth and symbolism, and point the way to far greater things. Reading this book as historical fact misses much of the point and can be compared to walking into a restaurant and eating the menu.
