Oh, I will be seeing it. It had better come to the theater here in Farmington or I'm going to be seriously upset.
We didn't get Shaun Of The Dead which I think is such a crime.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing The Grudge. ;D

I will probably wait until it come out on DVD. I have been getting really bad about that lately. I am usually disappointed in most movies. I feel less ripped off when I rent them. Plus, they come out on DVD in no time these days.
You know in the trailer where the hand is coming out of the back of her head? All I can think about is "Earshot" when she is checking for horns.

[glow=oraneg,2,300]Far as I can tell, the movie seems to be really, really good. Those who have reviewed it says it's somewhat exactly like "Ju On",(the original movie), and that it's as scary as the original, which would mean that its really, really scary. They say it's even better than The Ring, and as far as I know, The Ring was a really big breakout.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]On Letterman they showed a short clip from the first act and man that scene was so chilling. If the rest of the movie is as chilling as that, then it should be a hit.[/glow]

I just returned from watching The Grudge.
I have to say, that movie totally rocked!!! Very good with the creep factor. You gotta love Japanese horror.
The only bad thing was the crowd. It was packed, and the front half of the theater consisted of mostly teenagers.
They kept making all sorts of noise during the movie. There were lots of screams during all the scary parts.
The screams were a little funny, but also very annoying.
Plus, someone actually brought a baby into the theater, and people didn't turn of their freakin' cell phones.
I'm supposed to go see it on Sunday with Celeste for the afternoon show.
Hopefully there won't be much of a crowd then so I can really enjoy the atmosphere of the movie.
You guys should really go see it if you haven't already.
It's great!!! ;D

Oddly enough, S'Gypsy & I also just got back from seeing the flick. I concur, very good film. The creeps were plentiful and I was actually scared by the movie which is a fairly rare thing. If you want confirmation on this, just ask S'Gypsy. She had to tell me that her hand had gone numb to get me to stop squeezing it so hard. ;D We had the same problem with the noisy teens too. No cell phones or babies, but one kid behind us just kept talking about how scared he was. He also kept making a particular creaky vocal sound from the film. The problem is that we talked to him and his friend for a while before the movie started and he seemed really cool, so I felt bad telling him to shut up. There was also the usual laughter and screaming that you always get when people are trying not to show how scared they are. The interesting thing is that even with all this I got creeped out. I don't often see horror movies in theaters any more because all that talking generally spoils the atmosphere for me, but this time I still got some major chills. I generally rate films by how much I would feel comfortable spending on them. My scale follows: - $7 = Give me my damn money back $0 = Maybe if I catch it on cable $4 = Possible rental $7 = worth the ticket cost $15 = Gonna buy the DVD $25 = Gonna buy the special edition DVD $500 = Will see the film several times in theaters, buy all the DVD editions, the action figures, and the bobble heads I think I'd give this a $15. It might inch up into the $25 range because of SMG and the Buffy connection. Either way, worth the price of admission.

I agree with your ranking Grailwolf. I'm definitely buying it when it comes out on DVD.
The movie was seriously creepy, even with all the noise. I can't wait to watch it without all the distractions.
Though I don't think I'll be watching that one alone at night like I did the Ring.
The Japanese really know how to scare you. Like the Fatal Frame video games. Those games are freakin' creepy.
They're video games, and they can scare me. I really don't scare that easily either.
Well unless it involves spiders, then I'm really scared.
I just love a good horror flick.
Just out of curiousity, what films get a $500 ranking in your opinion?

I didn't see it yet.
Today I went and had my four wisdom teeth taken out. Oddly enough I'm experiencing very little pain,(meds ;D) so that hendered me in going out to watch it.
I've been reading some reviews online...EW gave it a c-, Eonline gave it a A-, and other places are dissing the film.
I tend to disagree with EW reviews much...more than ever now since they also dissed The Grudge's first film, "Ju On". And reading people's reviews on MoviePhone at AOL.com...I think mostly teens will dislike it.
From what I'm getting at is, this film seems to be a very good film, and seems like it is coming from you G'wolf and C69...I think some people will dislike it because it isn't their basic horror flick, which is why I like it. I don't want to see a movie where there's a hacker with a chain saw or kitchen knife or hook, and I think that's what some expected when they went and saw the movie.
Americans....too jumbled with their normal American horror!
I still haven't seen the film, but I still love it. This week I've been seeing SMG on these talk shows, and the clips she presents is what makes me know I'll enoy the film. Loved the clips...especially the one she showed where her character meets her first patient...I simply loved the tone in it, the sequence...so I have no doubt that I'll love this film.

C69, very very few films get my highest rating. Though not films, I'd put the Jossverse in that category (I've easily spent that much in merchandise alone). Also the Lord of the Rings to a lesser extent. I guess you could put the original Matrix in that category, because that's the film that made me finally break down and get a DVD player. The last film really lessened my enjoyment of that one though.
I might put Monty Python in that category. Had I the money, I'd be buying all their merchandise too. Perhaps also the Kevin Smith films.
It's late so I'm sure I'm forgetting some. How about you? What rocks your socks?

It seems like we've got the same taste. Anything Jossverse of course.
I loved the Lord Of The Rings films. I've been waiting for the extended edition of Lord Of The Rings: Return of the King to come out before I purchase it. Which is actually going to have to wait unless I get it for Christmas. Buffy Season 7 is coming out around the same time and I simply must have that one first.
I love all of Kevin Smith's films, though for some reason only one I actually own is Clerks. The rest are also on my Christmas list. I've given my Mom a list of about 50 items to choose from on my Christmas list this year. I love being surprised, but I also want to get something I actually like. She's not always great at picking out the gifts.
I own absolutely no Monty Python stuff. Which is sad really, I love the show. After I have all the Buffy/Angel DVD's I may start on collection the Monty Python DVD's.
I'm also going to need to get a bigger house to hold all of my books, computer games, CD's, and DVD's. I'm running out of places to put things.
And just think, I've managed to acquire all of this stuff with a crappy job. Just imagine how much more stuff I'd have if I actually had a good job. ;D

Now you guys really are making me want to watch "The Grudge". But part of me doesnt want to see it because, I dont like getting scared. Heck, I own "The Ring" and havent seen it because I am scardey-cat. The last creepy movie I saw was "Identity", and although I wasnt surprised by the ending, the movie gave me the chills and nightmares for 2 days.
Also I havent seen a movie in the theater in 3 years.

Easily scared huh? We are really going to have to tell ghost stories sometime during the Vegas trip.
I'd like to see if I can still make people have nightmares.
You own The Ring but haven't watched it? What made you buy it if you haven't seen it?
It's a pretty scary movie. I wouldn't recommend watching it alone at night. It freaked me out and I really don't scare easily.
Great movie though. I also own it.
