Let's hope that Bush - having defeat and death toll problems in Iraq - will NOT attack another country in his next presidency (ie Iran or Syria - who happen to be in good-enough relations with the British).
At least almost half of Americans realise that the world's (and its) problems are complex, and America can't really win on its own.. like economically, environmentally or in military/political dominance (ie there's no incentive to apppease such a thing). It's got to compromise, and god know how much damage Bush will do in the next 4 years... The mind boggles...then despairs.

I attempted to go to bed, but I am too wired and I can't stand not knowing the outcome. I am still in full denial. Hey, if the Red Sox can manage a miracle...

Did you see Larry King say that too? ;D
Yeah, I'm tired but there's no way I can go to bed yet.
I keep hoping things will change.

I'm just depressed. No clear victor, but it seems certain that Bush has it, barring a miracle.
Can't post here during the day, but I'll see you all on the Tome.

I just reread my off-the-cuff analysis of American voting patterns, and I quite like it. But I needed to pop on and say I really like TS's comment as well -- very insightful.
I was going to say Bush sees himself as deserving of the good things that happen to him with no recognition of who he's damaging in the process, and is in fact a spoiled brat and I hope the scandals that we may easily anticipate over the coming term will be transparent, horrifying and reparable.
If there's a bright side, there is no heir apparent on the Republican side for 2008. His entire cabinet is damaged beyond repair and ain't no way Americans will support an actual Cheney presidency (although they somehow don't seem to be as breath-stricken as I am about the de facto one they've all but reelected).

Frankly, I dont think George Bush is a spoiled brat. I believe he does make his policy decisions based off of his religious beliefs. I dont think he is a bad person, but I just disagree with his policy ideas.

I believe he does make his policy decisions based off of his religious beliefs. That actually scares the living daylights out of me. Who knows what that can lead to. When I start using Timothy Dalton movies in my speech, I know I'm in trouble.

I really don't get it. How can so many people in this country be for Bush? He failed to do anything substantial in the war on terror (Al Qaeda was the enemy, Iraq had nothing to do with it) he's run up the biggest deficit ever, he's alienated almost the entire world... If, say, Clinton had done any one of these things people would be out for his blood! I just don't get it. Ahem... Can you say, [glow=orange,2,300]Cheated!?[/glow]

Sadly, Bango, even CNN has said electoral irregularities this go-round were low-level and minimal -- not that they didn't happen, but that they'd have been unable to swing any actual outcomes.
The stories you cite are delicious and if they can be documented in any way, shape or form I have no doubt that Kerry would happily withdraw his concession and serve. But I haven't heard them from anyone but you. I did hear about 60,000 votes vanishing in Florida, but that's all -- I heard it from someone, didn't see it myself and can't confirm it at all. And that's the only actual instance of voting irregularity I've heard about -- on election day itself, that is -- not GOP intimidation and browbeating in the days leading up to it. I've heard a lot of that and it offends me. They should win by having a better candidate and better ideas, not by intimidating voters and scaring them away from the polls.
Just my two cents.
