I just saw "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang."
It kicked all kinds of ass. Funny, stylish, self-referentially hip and cool with a good story and just all around fun.
Ideally, I'd watch it with "Sin City" and "Pulp Fiction," but who has that kind of time? I love Sin City. Frank Miller is one of the greatest writers out there. There making a second film thats due out next year from what I've heard and a third that'll have new stories.
Miho is the coolest character ever and the Old Town rocks.

I also saw the first two discs of "Veronica Mars" this week.
I loved it. The parts I was awake for kicked ass. Sadly, when you're quitting smoking, you tend to drift fairly easily and I'm afraid there was some driftage. But Joss Whedon and Kevin Smith are absolutely right -- this girl is amazing.

Could it be? Another Marsfan in the making?
Be still my heart! ;D
Glad you liked them, TJ.

My friends dragged me off to see Clerks 2. I haven't seen the first one but I liked it. There were tons of comic-book references and I got all of them.

Nick, have you ever seen the tv series The 4400? It's very X-men-esque.

I'm still waiting for season 3 to come out here. My only problem is that its on too late and waiting for it on DVD is a real b!tch.
Speaking of waiting, still haven't seen Nip/Tuck s3.

I've watched the the first 2 seasons on DVD.
Tracking down the 3rd season now, so far, up to episode 5. My current thoughts, it certainly ended up somewhere completely different from where it started.
I'll post more tomorrow since the internet connection here is mit der s**tte.

OMG -- I think it's the best non-Joss thing on tv!
I've just started watching S3. But I have them all downloaded. If I can post them on the web, can you download from that?
Or -- PM me if you want to try taking them from my server. I can allow you to FTP them off.

And I thought I was addicted.
You guys are tracking down and dl'ing episodes that haven't even aired?
According to everything I've seen, VM-S3x01-"Welcome Wagon" hits the airwaves with the third season premiere Oct. 3.
The CW hasn't even technically started here.
* shaking head * I remember when the torrent sites were for ganking network programming from broadcasts and then uploading them. Feels like you're playing fair at that point, since their advertisers had a chance to fund the show.
It's a philosophical thing. My belief is that creativity should be supported. But I also believe that once you've gotten the money for what you've done, then anything else is gravy.
So I don't have a serious problem with making a YouTube viddie, for instance, because Joss has already gotten paid for his work, not once (when the advertisers paid for the production costs of "Angel," et al.) but twice (when I bought the DVDs). And I've purchased all the music one way or t'other. I didn't buy the rights, no, but I did pay for it, so those artists did get paid.
I don't mind ganking DrWho from a torrent site because it's the only way I can legitimately see it, and they got paid through airing on the BBC in the first place (and $100 is unconscionable). But somehow, watching Veronica Mars episodes nobody's gotten paid for feels ... dirty, somehow.
No judgment, of course, because everyone's in a different situation, and if CW has been so foolish as to allow access to programming it hasn't aired yet that's really it's own stupidity.
But myself, I'll hold off on S3 and watch it as it airs.
It just feels right.

Oh ... that makes a lot more sense.
Yes, S3 of "The 4400" probably would only be available through dl. My bad.
Phoe -- N/T-S3 is very good and well worth tracking down. Good luck!

for your stance,tj. Too often folks hear the word 'scruples' and have flashbacks to Judith Krantz and Lindsay Wagner. I see why others might do things differently. For one thing,we are so into instant gratification that we may forget to examine the things we do in time to notice when we've crossed the line. Another factor is the perception that the PTB have forgotten us. When you think of the likelihood that a truly excellent series may be sliced and diced by ads,pre-empted,shown out-of-order, cancelled with episodes unaired and bowlderized,it's understandable that the audience would grab any chance it has to view what it actually wanted to pay for through t.v. licenses, advertisers' products, cable and satellite fees, etc. Why assume there will be a chance to see the show as it was meant to be seen on DVD's? The same factors that abort a series before it can prove itself may prevent it from having enough support to warrant such a compilation being offered. It's far easier to adhere to honorable standards when there's a sense that the respect and consideration are reciprocal and that the rules are universally applied. The Golden Rule has acquired a cynical corollary. If you're not careful, people WILL do unto you as you have done unto them. What goes around, comes around. Congratulations for having enough of a conscience to forego a practice that just doesn't feel right. Our codes may evolve, becoming more lax here and stricter there but we lose something when we don't watch our behaviour and stick to doing the best we know how. We may not have any say about others' choices but part of free will is holding tightly to our responsibility for our own. Thanks for the reminder.

Aw, shucks.
I wouldn't want poor Kristen Bell to starve .. any more than she already clearly is. ;D
That and VM is so on the bubble. I don't really know what kind of market UPN thought it had, but apparently this incredibly clever show (which actually gets my vote for best non-Joss thing out there [except he's been on it with, y'know, Willow and Cordy]) isn't getting enough veiwers and was barely carried over to the CW fall schedule.
I really hope access to more screens translates to sufficiently more eyeballs. It's far too good a show to even exist in the first place.
