Nick, have you ever seen the tv series The 4400? It's very X-men-esque. I believe that I started watching the show last season at Nick's recommendation. We were watching it before anyone else here. ;D
I'm behind everyone now though since all of Season Three is on my dvr and I've only seen the first 4 or 5 eps so far.
I've been really busy this summer.

You did? I did? Wow, go me!
*refrains from laughing too hard at TJ's post*
About the whole downloading thing, I do buy the DVD sets if I find that I love the show. Not sure how much that counts, but there you have it.
Thanks for the offer, Dez, but I think I have it in hand. I have up to eppie 7 now, and there rest are in queue.

Right, about The 4400.
I like the premise, it's certainly different. I love how it wasn't really an alien abduction like what we were meant to believe in the first season, but something more local. Future abduction. And I really like the theme song, which really reflects the theme of the show. (Not so much lately, though)
I also liked the "ripple effect" storylines that they were doing for the earlier part of S2. Of course, the second-half of the season effectively moves away from that storyline to focus more on The 4400 center and Isabelle. Which, to my opinion, might be more exciting, but also has that been there, done that feeling. I think I've read or watched too many "a war between 2 factions" kinda thing to be really excited over that.
And then there's the Isabelle thing. Feels a lot like the Connor thing, so, ...... bleurgh.
I did like the "opposing faction from the future" plot they introduced in the last episode I saw. So, yay.
I do think the show has a lot of potential, and the stories are generally fine ... but the dialogue sometimes knocks me out of the moment. It doesn't always flow as smoothly as I'd like, but there you have it.
I like the show, but it's not on my top 5 things to watch this season.

Right, about The 4400.
I like the show, but it's not on my top 5 things to watch this season. OMG I think it's amazing. And it hasn't burped out it's master plan for the long haul, so I'm loving that. And we really dont know who's good/bad ... I have my theories. I'm not much farther in my viewing than you are. I think if it can surprise us in that we didn't see the entire purpose for the 4400's then I will be pleased. I love the ripple effects, I hope we see them deeper at work farther down the line. But if ... Isabelle is something evil and all that needs to be done is Tom syring her to death to solve everything, then ya I'll be disappointed. Where I am slightly annoyed is where they could have grown some of the characters a little more. Example ... I wasn't terribly sad when Lily died, and I didn't feel much movement from Richard when she died either. Which is rather odd to me. Those 2 characters and Isabelle are the least interesting.
And I agree the recipe for Isabelle is very Conner-esque. I felt rushed with my feelings when they grew up her so fast. And I never know which way she's swinging, but they do have me on my toes with that. But I'm a huge sci-fi freak, so I love this. Oh and .... LOOKING FORWARD TO VM!

But myself, I'll hold off on S3 and watch it as it airs.
It just feels right. Yeah well, I'm not the one who downloaded Doctor Who S2, which hasn't aired yet here in America.

I have my own theories about that too.
For one, I don't think Isabelle is the evil thing (Also, that would be lame) and the other guy (I can't remember his name. He's the shifty, advisor guy who just died) is from the future. Also, I don't think the syringe is supposed to kill her. Maybe depower and/or do something to her.

I know.
I was like all, "what!?!?" when she died. It's like she hardly had any time on screen.
Also, I thought they could've give more screen time to Tess Doerner. Like say make her a regular cast. Not that I'm biased of some such.
I kinda wish that TJ was right, and we were watching S3 of VM. One month is too far away.

Okay here's what I think ... Spoiler's if you haven't seen through S3x06 The "future room" with the door that Tom saw, the room that brought back Alana and took the kids. I think it's the bad place where the anti-4400 powers are working.
I think when they took the kids to seed them back farther in time, those kids appeared to accomplish great things ... but I think they were actually bad for the future time that they couldn't be aware of yet.
And I also think Mia could have been the child to carry the small pox to America. If you read her online journal, it's a window to what she experienced on the wagon trail.
Plus, why take those kids in the first place? Why not just pick new people and plant them back. Unless those kids ARE the key to change and they wanted to make sure they weren't doing what they were going to do in this timeline.
And then we come to Alana. She was a product of "the future room". I found it unusual she's working for the center now -- working with THE KIDS specifically. Did they ever determine she was an original 4400, I mean did she arrive in the lake like everyone else did?
Also consider, Tom is key. The spirit force that was in Kyle and communicated told him this. What better way to get to Tom than by planting an anti-4400 right under his roof and make him trust and love her?
Also if Isabelle is good, then this theory holds up that both the doctor in "future room", gave Tom the same deadly syringe to kill Isabelle that the liaison to Shawn had, I agree he was bad.
The only thing I get hung up on with Isabelle being bad is the thing she did to Lily's daughter, unless that was coincidence.
I also think Lily IS Lily's grandmother, maybe that's why she got old? I think the original Lily got pregnant with Richards baby and was pulled out of time and brought back somehow as granddaughter Lily. I think it's the same person. I do think it's amazing right now. Because they aren't reveling too much, we are really guessing. I like that. But sure, it could end up disappointing if we dont get the goods in the end.

Who2 has aired on BBCAmerica. * I could not wait 'til this fall to see Who2, and again * $100 for the dvds is insane.

Phoe -- N/T-S3 is very good and well worth tracking down. Good luck! I'm thinking of buying it online along with Supernatural. The Oz version has no special features.

Well, the only special features in the U.S. version are a few deleted scenes and a featurette, so you're not missing much.

I know because I have BBC America. Season One just ended it's run here, and it was on The SciFi channel and not on BBC America. I can't find anything about Doctor Who on BBC America's website.
Are you sure it aired there?
Season Two starts in on Sept. 29th on The SciFi channel. I've tried finding mention of it running on BBC America but I can't find it anywhere. Usually shows that are fairly new don't run on two channels unless they're owned by the same parent company.
And BBC America doesn't necessarily air British shows at the same time as they air on BBC in England. Look at Hex. It just stared airing here in the U.S. and it's already finished over there.

Okay, this was bugging me so I did more research and found that Doctor Who did not air on BBC America.

Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.
I was relying on my memory, which isn't perfect, from quite a while ago, when I thought I remembered reading it in TVGUIDE, which I do read pretty carefully every week, but clearly I'm misremembering this. I'm not set up to see BBC America right now.
Obviously I was mistaken about this. See apology above.
So I was downloading it because that's how I saw S1 because that is something my sister hooked me up with on this machine.
(Doesn't change the reality about paying $100 retail for 13 episodes of anything.)
