Breathing helium before hand will definately change how you sound. ;D
I dunno what advice I can give you, everybody reacts and deals with stage fright (well, it is) differently. I've given a couple of speeches and debates and plays, and everytime I did it, my heart beat so hard I thought it was audible to everyone else too.
Don't worry about how you sound, bring some water with you if you're afraid of getting dry, Plus, it's a handy way to catch yourself when you find going too fast or slipping words. Just take another drink.
Don't talk too fast. I always fall into this particular trap. If you talk to fast, you're in danger of losing your crowd and that's a bad thing. Talk slowly and clearly. Ennunciate your words carefully, and take care not to mangle the words. Move your hands, don't leave them still by your side, but don't move them so much that they distract from your sermons/speeches.
The others will probably have better advice; they probably have more experience with these stuff than I do since I hate getting up and talk.
Good lick.

Good lick. Helium me would scare the whole bunch off.
Ah yes I agree on talking fast. That is something I tend to do. I tend to rush things to get them done as fast as possible. I have to literally force myself to slow down. And also make it sound clearly. Since I have a southern slang it makes things more complecated since I already have a weird voice.
I'll have to drink something. I was practicing some earlier and I sound weird in it. Mine is called "His Love Endures Forever". I sound like a moutain huigee from the blue hill country. It is hard to sound assertive believe me. It sounds so innocent and shaky. I hate sounding shaky. I had a paragraph written and was looking at it and my mind still went blank. Makes no sense at all.
Thank You.

You haven't been around much lately have you? Hope everything's going well.
Nick -- What plays were you in?
Reb -- Confidence in what you're saying is going to help a lot. Run through it a bunch of times until you're comfortable looking away from it once in a while and you can make some eye contact as well.
Your voice is your voice. If you're talking to other Southerners they'll probably make out most of what you're saying.
Morning everyone. Z'Rolf, I'll take a Cup of Rolf, please, and a cinnamon raisin bagel. * sip * * munch * Thank you.
* sip * How's everyone doing ths wonderful Friday morning?

Oh, nothing as grand and textured as the ones you've been in. Mostly school plays and the like.
They were fun.

Well, so long as you had a good time, that's mostly the point.
And it's fun when the audience has a good time. too.

You haven't been around much lately have you? Hope everything's going well. I just have a whole heap of school work and stuff going on lately.
Today I had an interview with the Pathways Co-coordinators, they basically help you with what you want to be when you're older and help you choose the subjects you are interested/ or need for the career you want and so I decided to actually take the advice Tj gave me ages go, I wanna go into acting and if that fails, maybe writing. I was thinking about it before but then I thought no but after watching Buffy, Angel, Desperate Housewives, a few others shows and accidentally appearing on a day-time talk show, I've given it a lot more thought. I mean not only will most of the actors and the characters they play will be remembered but they will in a way be idolized and enjoyed by the people who watch them. That and I do like to preform for people, like show off, have fun and entertain them (but not in a sexy way of course because that would be a inappropriate).
Because I've chosen acting, the PC's said I pretty much can choose any subject I want. So I basically have free reign on what I want to learn because some of the other jobs can make it a bit limiting. All I have to do is do well in English which is easy for me because its one of my best subjects. So the subjects I chose was Biology (I'm currently doing that right now and its pretty easy because I understand what the teacher is on about), Studio Art/ Art, Psychology, History, English (Obviously) and possibly General Mathematics (thats just incase I don't get to where I want to go, something to fall back on 'cause Maths is important and without it, I would have just closed off a path that could become useful or needed later on in life).

Very interesting classes Phoenix. Don't do all the hard classes at once if it can be helped. I did AP Economics, Trigonometry, AP English, and AP European history at once. I know I went through 5 bottles of tylenol. Less stress classes are always good to throw in there if the school will allow you to do the classes as you want them.
TJaman Confidence is also what I will try to have. I am going to buy another recorder. All I have is my Talkboy taper recorder(remember Home Alone2, sad isn't it). I can shout and talk loud which can sound a bit more assertive than if I talk normal.
I was up until 4am last night doing this. I was up until 3am making another for a girl of a friend of mine. I only got 5 hours sleep but I guess I can run on it.

Phoe: Best of luck. You've definitely got a look. Get some training and build a few characters, do some local/summer stuff and read some bios of other actors to see about their experiences. Beyond watching a lot of James Lipton and Entertainment Weekly, I don't know what else to suggest except to just relax and have fun with it.
Ass cancer!
Reb: That'll probably help some. Listening to yourself is a good way to train your voice for any situation.
And morning Feigy! Wish I could hang out all day. That'd be fun.
Even more fun, of course, is getting yourself in a good stiuation jobwise, so I completely get that. Good luck!
Or, as Nick was wishing people earlier, good lick!

The classes I chose were pretty much the easy classes. Well I'm not sure about Psychology but all the other classes I chose don't really give that much work and are pretty creative and I'm good at most of them.

Ah Tj, because of the whole me in the Southern Hemisphere, you in the North. Acting groups and stuff like that usually are out of order because its also Christmas time. They stop around the middle of December and start up around mid to late January and its pretty hot around that time of year.

//shrug// The group I'm in has shows all year round.
Though I admit it's odd thinking about celebrating Christmas in the blasting heat of the summertime.
Most of the songs must make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Off to bed, ta.
