No, no no- you see... Gwen Stacy was the original 'Supergirl' -a female clone of Clark Kent who was also girlfriend and accomplice to Wolverine in the 80's. However, that was all cut short when Demogoblin killed her in the 'Crisis of the Infinite Earths' storyline. However, she was later revived when it was revealed she was really trapped in a block of ice by the insidious Red Skull- Captain America's archnemesis. She proceeded to join Cap's team of heroes- the Justice League of America. However, when the 'Star Destroyer' attacked Justice League, Gwen heroically sacrificed herself in order to buy Superman time to disarm the doomsday device.
In case you didn't figure it out, YES, we're talking about Spider-Man. *shakes head*

That's actually quite an interesting tangle of universes and continuities. Wish I'd stuck Spawn and Hellboy in there for good measure.

Here's another great Poison Ivy versus Catwoman picture (this time from the Long Hallowe'en)- how can you not love it? The half-plant, half-woman Ivy creeped me out at first (she looks like a zombie), but I liked the way she was handled.

Actually, no. I just found the pic. Like I'd buy the Long Hallowe'en in FRENCH (for the record, Selina's screaming 'You're mine, Ivy- mine!')- it's over $40 canadian. But I adore the artwork...especially Two Face- very putrid looking and threatening (which we don't see enough of, frankly).

Okay, let me break this down for you. No, no no- you see... Gwen Stacy was the original 'Supergirl' Gwen Stacy was not the original Supergirl, she was the original girlfriend of Peter Parker (Spider-man) who was killed by the first Green Goblin (Norman Oswald). -a female clone of Clark Kent Clark Kent is Superman, he has no female clone. who was also girlfriend and accomplice to Wolverine in the 80's. Wolverine is most famous for being a member of the X-men. However, that was all cut short when Demogoblin killed her in the 'Crisis of the Infinite Earths' storyline. Demogoblin is a villain from the Marvel Universe (Spider-man). The Crisis of the Infinite Earths is part of the DC Universe where, in order to clean up all contradicting stories, it was claimed there were alternate universes with alternate versions of the heroes. They combined the storylines into one and killed Flash (Barry Allen) for the heck of it. However, she was later revived when it was revealed she was really trapped in a block of ice by the insidious Red Skull- Captain America's archnemesis. Captain America is a Marvel character. I'm pretty sure Red Skull is his archnemesis but you may want to double check that one. She proceeded to join Cap's team of heroes- the Justice League of America. The Justice League of America is not Captain America's team. JLA is a group of DC comic heroes who have joined forces to fight evil. They are also commonly called the Superfriends because of various cartoons during the '70s and '80s. The members vary depending on what source you're using, but Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are pretty much always included. However, when the 'Star Destroyer' attacked Justice League, I've never heard of a Star Destroyer, sorry. Gwen heroically sacrificed herself in order to buy Superman time to disarm the doomsday device. Lots of heroes sacrifice themselves (The Flash, Doyle) Now you want to hear the amazing part, in my entire life I have owned but 3 comic books. A Nightcrawler, an X-Force/Spider-man crossover, and a Superboy (there's a fourth one if you count the unlockable e-Comic on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds video game). I got all of that information through good old fashion research over the past 2 or 3 years.

The Star Destroyer (aka Mageddon) was an ancient doomsday weapon from the Justice League series. The hero Aztek sacrificed himself. And Supergirl did in fact die in the Crisis of the Infinite Earth's dealie. And Red Skull is Cap's archnemesis. Also, unlike so many Marvel characters, Gwen was a good little girlfriend and stayed dead. Although she was cloned...but in Spider-Man, who wasn't?

It all started when the Jackal, who was in love with Gwen Stacy cloned her. He also cloned Peter Parker a couple of times. One Peter Parker clone had hideous scarring and became the villain Kane. Another clone worked out right, and was seemingly killed by Spidey. He then killed the Jackal and rescued the clone of Gwen Stacy. However, it later turned out that he was the clone (as some tests by the Avengers proved), and that the non-clone was the one who was in the smokestack- who, as it turned out, was alive and, calling himself Ben Reilly, took on the guise of Scarlet Spider. However, the Jackal revealed himself again (the one that died was really just a clone) and he wanted to make Spidey miserable so he created a couple more clones, and stared the clone wars in the storyline called Maximum Clonage. Then the clone turned out to not be the clone, and Ben Reilly was the clone, and Aunt May wasn't really dead, it was an impostor (but not a clone), and then the clones had a big massive fight, and the last clone was killed by the Green Goblin, who cloned himself as well. But that clone died. If you understood that, I feel very, VERY sorry for you. And unlike the 'Supergirl' hoax, I'm afraid that actually happened : ( Ugh.

I just picked up 'Harley and Ivy' ...very cute little miniseries, and quite funny (especially for animated continuity).
