I'm not sure about Aunt Arlene's objection to Titanic, but my issue is everybody and their freakin' brother went on and on about that movie.
I tend to shy away from things that the masses like. I prefer to be an individual and not follow the crowd. That is exactly the way I feel. Sometimes I'm just being a big baby about it, but usually if everyone loves a movie, I'll find a way to dislike it. When the hype wears down on some of these movies, I might end up watching them. The hype for Titanic was so huge though, it will never wear off for me. Here's a better boat movie with much better music. Anyone seen The Legend of 1900? It's worth it just to see Clarence William III as Jelly Roll Morton.

[glow=blue,2,300]The reason I loved Titanic was because I was fascinated in the true story. The legends and scandals behind the ship and its company. A very chilling and interesting story behind the real Titantic, very huge.
I liked the movie because it has been the only movie to almost do the real history of it justice. The past movies are so fiction and unreal that it never makes the story real.
This recent Titanic movie though takes you into the story of the famous ship. True, it uses two fake characters to tell it, but at least it tells the real thing. And the effects...wow! As the ship is filling up with water and when it breaks in-half it really is horrifying because the makes you remember that actual people went through all of that. A real horrible thought at knowing that to those people on the real ship, it was never a movie, only life. That's why I,(and probably many) found the movie and true story so fascinating. It's almost like a Greek tradegy.[/glow]

Fine, Rich, I'll drop the Passion argument. Though it doesn't change the fact that I was not entertained by the movie and still think that the movie shouldn't have only been about the last 12 hours because really boring things were happening in most of those hours. Titanic is good to see once, though it wasn't really great. Thumbtanic is a much better telling of the story, even if it does ignore any facts. Let's see, oh, the 2004 Dawn of the Dead is coming out on DVD. Granted it's no 28 Days Later but I did see in theaters twice. Pretty good zombie flick. Another movie I saw in theaters recently was Napoleon Dynamite, which is in my opinion the funniest movie ever. You all better go get it when it comes out on DVD or else you will go to Hell. Here are some movies I've watched recently and what I thought of them on a scale of 0 to 10. Mean Girls | 8 | Shrek 2 | 7 | Shark Tale | 6 | Spider-Man 2 | 9 | The Day After Tomorrow | 7 |

I've heard good things about "Napoleon Dynamite". I'll have to rent that one. "The Day After Tomorrow" is on it's way from Netfix as we speak.

I still haven't seen "Spiderman 2". The first one wasn't that good.
I've been wanting to see "Napoleon Dynamite" though.

I thought the first one was LOATHSOME, but the second one was awesome (if you ignore how annoying Mary Jane got at times). I saw it three times in theatres, and everyone I know loved it. Definitely something to check out, Cordy.

I'm glad to hear that many of you disliked the first one. Most of the people I know liked it. I was the only one who was disappointed. That's why I avoided the sequel. I guess I should give it a chance though.

If you like slow drama, then SpiderMan 2 is a good movie, but if you like fast paced drama with loads of action, stick with SpiderMan.
I don't know, I think the ending was sort of anti-climatic. The villain is not even the villain of the movie. And Doc Octopus was just so lame.
One thing I did love was how his wife meets her fate, but besides that...
One reason I didn't like Spider Man 2 was that the main story all began so fast right in the beginning.
I expected the main point,(him quitting), to occur over a certain amount of time during the movie, but I didn't see that happening. And come on, if M.J. was acting like a bitca BEFORE he revealed himself to her, what good is it to have her accept his destiny at the end? Nothing occured between those two points to indicate that she changed from how she acted in the beginning!
The good parts about the movie...
The whole citizens protecting SpiderMan. The set up for the next one,(which I guess if you hated the first you might not like the 3rd either). And...uh, that's about it.

[dariesque]Thank you SOOOOO much for those LOOOOVELY spoilers.[/dariesque]
And it's worth seeing, if only for the special effects. And Doc Ock- he's a supervillain! He's not supposed to be überscary...like a Batman[/b] villain. Just...troubled.[/color]

SPOILERS! And it's worth seeing, if only for the special effects. And Doc Ock- he's a supervillain! He's not supposed to be überscary...like a Batman villain. Just...troubled. Remind me again, what special effects? Oh, you mean the unbelieveable look of the characters during those falling,, flying, and, capturing scenes. And the whole Spidey saving the subway train... And Doc Oct...at least the first movies villain had character and struggle to not be the Green Goblin...this sequels character immediately accepted his greediness...and he's the one who's supposed to be nice!

I was willing to see the sequel mainly for Alfred Molina. I've always liked him. Even way back when his character screwed over Indiana Jones. "Throw me the whip!"
