Yeah, when I read about the changes they made for the movie I was determined never to watch it - it's such a good book, so why change it?

Grail- If you kind of mentally edit out any traces of the Penguin in comic books, I think Danny DeVito was actually extremely interesting (and creepy!) as Cobblepot. In fact, I always thought the canon Penguin was uninteresting- ooooh, trick umbrellas- and his motivation was never really particularly stunning. So I could enjoy this Penguin. As for Catsy, I believe it's now canon that Catwoman never killed anyone- she was a thief, but not a murderer. And I loooooved Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of the character- in my opinion, she made the best Catwoman ever. I agree, one-villain films would be much better, and it seems Batman Begins will treat us (or torture us, depending) to appearances by Ras Ah Ghul and the Scarecrow (a VERY dubious pairing to say the least!). Ah well, it can't be any worse than Batman and Robin, now can it? Uggggh, poor Poison Ivy, forever tainted by Uma Thurman's portrayal... (shuddering)

I'm sorry, I've repressed all memory of that film in order to avoid random crying jags throughout the day. I refuse to believe in a reality in which Arnold would play Mr Freeze, Uma would play Ivy, Bane would be reduced to a third-rate joke of a villain, or Batman's costume would have nipples.
Now that I have no conscious memory of the film my life is serene and happy again.
Except for the nightmares.

I would have liked it better if the plot hadn't been so.....meh, and if the Sweeny Todd scene had been cut out, burned, stamped on, swore at, and consigned to the bottom of a very deep pit for all eterninty.
On the plus side - Smith always gets a good performance from Affleck, and the witty banter was good, as always. Always a delight to see George Carlin, as well.
But the story/plot just didn't do anything for me, I'm afraid.

I saw Jersey Girl about a week ago. It was just OK. It seemed very mellow for a Kevin Smith movie.

[glow=orange,2,300]Here's one to look forward too....[/glow]
SCREAM QUEEN Gellar signs on for another thriller. ~ by Gary Susman Gellar will do another supernatural thriller. In ''Revolver,'' she'll play a woman driven by her nightmares to explore the mystery of another woman's death 25 years ago. Fresh off the success of The Grudge, horror queen Sarah Michelle Gellar is planning to star in another supernatural thriller, Variety reports. In Revolver, the erstwhile vampire slayer will play a successful businesswoman who's driven by her nightmares to explore the mystery behind another woman's death 25 years ago. Directing will be London-born director Asif Kapadia, whose only previous feature is the 2001 Hindi-language epic The Warrior. There's no start date yet for the film, which comes from Rogue Pictures, the imprint of Focus Features that's behind such horror movies as Shaun of the Dead and Seed of Chucky.
Meanwhile, a Grudge sequel is in the works, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Screenwriter Stephen Susco is aboard, but there's no word on whether Gellar or Takashi Shimizu, who directed both the Japanese original and the American remake, will return. Shimizu has already written and directed several Japanese films in the Grudge series, but it's not clear if Susco's screenplay will be an adaptation of one of those or will take off in a new direction. Anyone else seen Seed of Chucky yet? Thinking about it it was very much like "Child's Play Meets American Pie" except there was only one naked person in the entire movie.

Anybody seen The Grudge yet? Looks kinda creepy, and I'm pulling for Sarah to make a good movie (finally). Should I see it in the next couple of days, or wait for the dvd?

Haven't seen Seed Of Chucky yet. Was it good?
I figurered I'd wait till it came out on DVD. I like the Chucky movies, just not enough to have to run to the theater to see them.
I really want to see Saw. That one looks like it'll be pretty good.

Well, I saw the Grudge... it had it's moments, but overall I thought it sucked....SMGs performance was nothing special but she did it well. The movie was creepy, but it's certainly got the creepy Japanese horror flick thing going on...ummm 'cause it is one...but not much good stuff to say about it.

Haven't seen Seed Of Chucky yet. Was it good? Only if you know what you're getting into. To fully understand everything you probably have to have at least seen Child's Play and Bride of Chucky already, and you also have to understand that Chucky movies are no longer horror movies. In fact Seed makes it hard to believe that Chucky was ever part of the horror genre. It is pretty much just an adolescent comedy with murder. It's good if you want to laugh at people be murdered by a doll, but probably not that great if you want to be scared.
