Just saw it.
I really need to stop watching movies. Not sure how I'd describe it, but "donkey balls" is in there somewhere.I have to disagree with Nick about The Beast. As soon as he opened his mouth I knew who it was. I found it very distracting.
Anyone else think Xander was going to show up at the end with an inspiring speech about Crayola products?

Here's what I think with added spoiler section. The GoodThe action and effect are amazing! This is what X-Men should be and what it looked like in the cartoons and what it looked like in the comics when mutants fight. It was great. It was brilliant that Storm got to fly and throw lightning bolts like she should. She should have done that in the first two! Lots of cameos. The pheonix effect was fantastic - loved it and it showed her power. Patrick and Ian are fantasic actors. Danger room is in place and a cameo from a sentinel. The BadThere was not a single happy moment in the movie. It wasn't fun. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, once a war is started, all you end up with is sadness. Even the end is sad and melancholic. There's a lot of grief and shock moments. I didn't mind it, but it has a different atmosphere to the first two. The universe is different to comic completely. People who have favourites characters be prepared. There are too many characters in the movie. Cameos are nice but there's no emotional connection except to the comic fans. It wasn't long enough especially as they seem to flicker between different short stories. A lot was going on. Now some additional spoiler type thoughts. I know Scott Summers arent a favourite with people, even in the comic, but what they did was very bad. I feel sorry for James, but maybe they thought he couldn't act decently to do anything else.
It felt wrong NOT having a cyclop lead the team. The ending with Jean should have been with Scott, although I know he wouldn't be able to kill her like Wolverine. One very major character just gone, just like that!
Ice man and Pyro has a duel but I wasn't clear why they were angry with each other except they chose different teams. It looked like they were great friends before.
A lot of mutants, possibly favourites, were neutralise or killed off. Although there are many (Joss-type) ways to bring them back, they kind of cut all strings on any possibility of a sequel. With the exception of the final scene with Magneto.
I am dissapointed that Rogue, one of the most powerful mutant, was neutralised and didn't even join in the final fight. Her role was limited. She possibly doesn't even need to be in that school anymore especially if she isn't gifted.
Wolverine still had too much screen time. For someone who has a spin off series, other characters should have been given the chance. Storm deserved the screen time though for missing out in the last two.
The pheonix held back with wolverine in the final battle. I have no doubt that she can totally destroyed him if she wanted to.
I'm still undecided about how I feel about it. The action was great but I might still rate it under the second in the series because of the story line. There are too much going on for it to connect much with the audience. I also felt unhappy and sad after which is not a good feeling for something I thought might be fun. It looks like I've missed the thing after the credits - can someone tell me what happened. Sorry for the rant but I feel a little uneasy about this movie.

MaxC -- Here is my take on this about Rogue: I dont think she went through with it. All she said was "I had to do it" which could have meant run away and try to become human. But they only showed her touch his hand for a few seconds -- Not enough time to see if he would become effected by her.
Also consider she has the ability to absorb a power, hold it for a small while and shake it off. Do you think she could be immune to the injection? Only be human for a short while and then shake it off? This would allow for her moment of ecstasy -- oh does that sound a little like Angel/Buffy?
All Im saying is never assume anything!

I just got back from watching X3. I liked it better than the comic fans did. I guess because I don't read the comics. It's cool to hear they used stuff that Joss had written in him comics though. I always meant to read those but just never got around to it. Anyone else think Xander was going to show up at the end with an inspiring speech about Crayola products? I was thinking that very thing. I almost said something to Enzo about that during the movie - but I didn't want to go to the Special Hell for talking. I was so excited when I read your post and saw you were thinking the very same thing. ;D I'm not sure if anyone needs the spoiler tags anymore but I'll go ahead and use them.
I really did enjoy the movie. The action was great and the story was pretty good in my opinion. I do agree that there wasn't enough time to really get in everyone's head.
When Rogue yelled at Iceman at the beginning I was wondering where that even came from. I mean, I know it sucks that they can't touch but that whole thing seemed to come from left field.
She should have acted like that after seeing him skating with Kitty. Then it would have made a little more sense in this movie. They probably had another scene before that got cut for content that would have made her outburst fit better into the story.
I'm not sure she really got rid of her powers though. Notice how she didn't really say the words "I took the cure" It's just implied, but they can always pull a Joss.
Plus, Magneto isn't fully "cured" so maybe the more powerful ones can't be fully "cured".
I loved how Charles ended up in that guys body in the end. That was really worth sitting through the ton of credits. I'm glad you told us to do that Dez.
It was horrible to see him die, especially given Magneto's reaction. Though I'm not surprised he reacted that way. They may not have agreed on things but it was obvious - to me anyway - that Magneto really cares for and Respects Charles.
Also, Scott may not be dead. I mean it was implied (and stated by Phoenix but she could have been wrong. Maybe she just thinks she killed him?) that he died and we saw the beginning of her sucking the life from him but we never actually saw him die.

More thoughts: I like all the theories and I guess it kind of leave ways for another movie if people really wanted it. However, I don't think ressurection works well in movies especially for multiple characters. I'm sad I didn't sat through the credits. In the 2nd movie, they had a drug that can brainwash and control humans. The main bad guy said that 'Charles mind was too powerful for the drug to work on him'. That being the case, I don't see why this new drug might not have an effect with the more powerful mutants. So it is believable that Magneto's power loss is temporary. I don't think the drug would have had ANY effect on the pheonix. At one point, I though that Leech would be the one to stop the pheonix and not Logan.

Here are my 2 cents on the film. I loved it. I got every single reference to the comics and I loved that they had a Danger Room simulation of Day of Future Past and you got to see a sentinal (FINALLY!!!).
My only 5 complants are: 1. They had too much storyline and it should have been longer with more fight scenes. 2. Not very many of the other characters (Shadowcat, Collosus, Iceman etc.) got developed very much. It was just Dark Phoenix, Wolverine, Magneto and Storm (again FINALLY!!!!) most of the time. 3. What the hell is up with Callisto? She doesn't have superspeed nor can she sense other mutants. Its like they combind Caliban, Callisto and some speedster together. She isn't suppose to be pretty either. 4. What the hell is this level crap!!! "I've never met a level 5 mutant. Blah! Blah! Blah!" In the comics its something like Beta, Alpha and Omega (Omega being the hightest and you have unlimited potential). 5. There was NO mention of Juggernaut being Prof. X's stepbrother and he isn't a mutant either.
Here are some interesting things about the film: When Angels father is talking about Hope, pretty much everything he says is almost exactly what Kavita Rao says in the comics. Nearly word for word.
The bit when Magneto moves the bridge and a large battle between the X-Men and the Brotherhood is a reference to a storyline in New X-Men (Written by Py's fav writer next to Joss, Grant Morrison)
Shocking moments:Mystique getting hit with Hope. (I heard it was going to happen but I just felt so sorry for her)
Psylocke being killed. I didn't care for Arclight or Quill and they screwed up her powers as well.
THE "DEATH" OF PROFESSOR XAIVER!!! I was so shocked I couldn't move and I almost cried. There was not a single happy moment in the movie. It wasn't fun. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, once a war is started, all you end up with is sadness. Even the end is sad and melancholic. There's a lot of grief and shock moments. I didn't mind it, but it has a different atmosphere to the first two. You people so need to read the comics. The X-Men represent a repressed minority. Of course they're not going to be happy, the entire world hates and fears them and constantly sees them as a threat. In a world like that, its incrediably hard to find any sort of happiness.I just got back from watching X3. I liked it better than the comic fans did. I guess because I don't read the comics. It's cool to hear they used stuff that Joss had written in him comics though. I always meant to read those but just never got around to it. Trust me, you really should. The first arc is great (the cure storyline used in the film) but the second kinda goes a bit down hill but its alright. Joss is currently in the middle of a 3rd arc right now (it deals with where Emma Frosts loyalities really are). You can check 'em out on uncannyxmen.net but its not the same as reading the comics because there is no art but you can look up the characters histories so you're more familiar with them.
To look up summaries: 1. Go to Issue Information 2. Issue summaries 3. Look for Astonishing X-Men (3rd Series)
Character Bios: 1. Cerebro Files 2. Spotlight on 3. Just look for the following mutants - Shadowcat - Cyclops - Beast - Emma Frost - Collosus * Wolverine also appears in Astonishing X-Men but there isn't a indepth bio for him. (he has also popped up in every damn marvel comic since his introduction which has caused him to become very hated by some.)
Anything else you wanna know, just ask.I didn't stay for the end ... can someone tell me what happened? When Prof. X was teaching the Ethics class, he was talking about how Dr. Mactaggart had been taking care of a body that had basically become like a vegetable and if it would be wrong to transplant someones mind into the body, even though someone it could give someone else a second chance at life.
So, before the Professor died, he transplanted his mind into the body and at the end of the film, he says "hello" to Moira and she freaks out and say "Charles?"

Of course they're not going to be happy, the entire world hates and fears them and constantly sees them as a threat. In a world like that, its incrediably hard to find any sort of happiness.I agree. But my point was that the first two movie was fun. If people expected to watch a fun movie with XmenIII then it will tarnish the memory of the movie no matter how good it was. I've now concluded that I prefer the 2nd movie to this one. The 3rd movie is great, but my general feeling (which I can't seem to change) is just grief and mourning which I don't particularly like.

But you know Max -- I just think of this like any other Joss adventure -- They want us to think Rogue gave up her powers, or Wheels died, Magneto lost his powers --etc. That's what they expect you to think, the obvious. Thats what makes for the rollercoaster ride.
Whos to say they dont find the anti-cure? They can do and say anything!
Show hands for who thought Angel was dead after Buffy sent him to hell.
Wow, if that would have been true we wouldnt have had an Angel series.
