Cardio is important. Hear that reb? Cardio is important. EVen for you, trying to gain weight. Overall heart health is just a positive thing all around, and will help you build muscle faster with a better bloodflow. Hell, you already got an advantage over several of us, in that you're not currently filling your lungs with garbage every 15-20 minutes. I never do treadmill, bike, or that walking thing. I always know those are for weight loss since they cause a tremedous amount of sweat and that signals weight loss. My only cardio is me power walking in my boots through stores. Today: Legs: Squats: 120lb overall bending down with that bar on my back. Squat Machine: 120lb pushing it up and down. Calf: 70 lb doing the ankle pushy. Chest: Bench: 115lb 3 sets of 5. Incline: 60lb 3 sets of 10 Shoulder: Behind the neck dumbell: 3 sets of 10. Oh and the sunning I have done for 3 days straight 30 min per side has been giving me color. Slight color body wise. And we all know how lovely this will be.

Cardio isn't just for weight loss. It's also important for bloodflow and circulation, both of which will help you build muscle faster and better. Don't skip the cardio. (There should be a jingle to that effect...)

A good daily 20-minute walk is hard to argue against. Anything that elevates heart rate for a controlled period, yes?

you can do brief, hard work and get the heart workout with _less_ calorie loss than if you did a lot of slow, steady exercise.
you don't want your pulse rate too fast or erratic. you don't want to hurt.
have someone watch your pulse so it stays in the right range and if you can't talk or sing normally while doing this, you're too out-of-breath.
Short version.:
big effort, short time adds strength, builds muscles and helps heart.
less effort over long time refines muscles, builds stamina and burns calories.
everyone needs both but you change proportions according to the needs of your body.

I believe that the two of us have taken up permanent residence at the naughty place.

ACtually, they say that that is one of the best cardio excercises. I'm just saying.

Yes I have heard that.
I also heard if your heart can't handle that particular heart racer then you can have a heart attack.
What I show in one of my pictures over on the picture thread is an example of a bicep after 2 month training.

The right spotter is always important.
Lets take mine for example:
Lady Trainer: "Come Chris keep on going keep on going. I am not going to help you. Come on one more one more. There you go thats a good boy."
There is an example of a rough spotter.

It's also supposed to be a good way to get rid of a headache. It does tend to take your mind off of it for awhile.
