Yup, I may get the TV anyway - I did buy a SCART lead that can connect my computer to the TV - so at least I can watch DVD's on a bigger screen that way. But I won't have the 5.1 surround sound! lol

That's exactly when Maggie got conceived on "The Simpsons."

Or ... maybe Bob Geldoff had a little left over from where the idiot vj's were talking through the show ... ?
Just a thought.

I'd get the tv ITL. They tend to cost quite a bit more than a DVD player so you can always get one of those later.
I have an insane amount of DVD players in my house and I work at McDonald's. We have two PSIIs - my son and I each have our own - and you can watch DVDs on those. I have a small, cheap DVD player in my room. Both computers have DVD drives. Plus I have a DVD player with surround sound for the living room and my son bought himself a DVD player with surround sound for his room with the money he got for Christmas.
So if one DVD player dies we've got lots of spares.
You know, I almost sound rich when you look at it like that. That must be why I'm generally running on broke. I like electronic stuff too much.

Nothing wrong with that. Electronic stuff is just so cool.
I so couldn't be Amish.

Me either. I would never make it. I don't even think I could last a day.

Here's the latest on my TV/DVD situation.
The TV I wanted is now out of my price range, as the shop has put the price up by 20 quid since I last checked. Grrrrr.
However, the same shop does sell a colour portable TV that has a SCART socket, and a cheap DVD player - so I could buy both of them with the money I have.
So that's my choice.....do I save up for a couple of months (which is a financial strain, seeing as though I'm on benefits) and get a bigger TV and DVD player, or do I get a new portable TV and DVD player today? It's very tempting to get the items today......I could be watching DVD's with a perfect picture within the hour....
EDIT:
Well, I went and got the portable TV and cheapo DVD player - OK, so it may not be a big screen, but at least the picture quality is perfect! lol

So you went with the instant gratification.
I always knew you were a closet American. ;D
Enjoy the set up, ITL.
In related news, I recently moved my teevee so that it's even easier to see it from the computer. While this has earned me one or two comments from guests, I have decided that my guests don't live there and I do and if I want to watch "The Closer" and "Rescue Me" and natter about them at the same time, that's my business and I can blorry well do it. ;D

hey,if your guests want your full attention, they should be more interesting. i'm still trying to find the bed Denzel Washington used in 'Bones'. those things are tres comfortable, they have complete t.v.,phone and computer hookups and you don't even have to leave them to eat, drink or go to the bathroom. they cost about as much as an SUV but they're far more useful. When the manufacturers start selling them to geeks instead of the critically ill, they'll make a fortune.

LOL I think you're right q-cat! Though I find that fact a bit too scarey for me. Dunno why.... could be the thought of looming bedsores one could get with a bed like that. heh

oh that's the good part about this bed for patients.
bedsores are pretty much nonexistent and you have a minimum of turning and tissue care required.
Apparently the bed is made of a very human friendly material and it also 'moves' itself to create the changes in pressure required to prevent bedsores and necrosis.

/me And now for a classic Rubber room moment...By the ellustrious Dr. Pants
NOTE: could be disturbing....or just irrelevant as all hell. (end note)
I like to read the back of bathroom products while "in" the bathroom. I like to read them aloud. Did you know, the voiceover people from the commercials are basically reading the stuff that's written on the product? I like to pretend I'm doing voice-overs for commercials...
/me bangs her head against the rubbery walls making a weird gurgling noise
