I sat in the front row, so I don't know how many people were there, but it was at least 20 or so. I could tell the group in the row behind me were Firefly fans from the comments they were making, so that made me feel a little better since the five people I brought with me had never even heard of the show before I made them watch it. There was a lot of applause. I seriously can't belive what a good movie it is. I'd go see it some more, except going to the movies costs $10 and I already have $96 that people owe me back. I'm really, really angry at Amazon and the people who made the soundtrack for this movie, and if you don't know why I'd suggest you look at the title of track 10. I saw that three days ago and had been trying to convince myself it meant something different and they'd never put a spoiler like that on the soundtrack. 30 minutes into the movie I was convinced Zoe was going to die, since we all know 1) someone always dies in a Joss Whedon story and 2) no one ever lives happily ever after with their true love in a Joss Whedon story. The funny thing is it never occurred to me he would go after Wash. That really shocked me. During the Reaver fight I started thinking that Mal would be the only left alive or that at least Serenity would be demolished beyond repair. Oh, and did anyone else love Mr. Universe? There really, really needs to be a sequel.
I can't sit in the front row at the movies. It gives me a cramp in my neck since I have to look up to see the screen. I always sit as close to the back as possible, though not by the wall anymore. Once I was sitting by the wall and a spider crawled right next to me. I had to jump up and make my son kill it.
Since then I refuse to sit by the wall.
I had heard that people were spoiled by the song titles on the soundtrack. I'm so glad the titles weren't listed when I was looking at it on Amazon. I guess I really got lucky that day. Several people on the Browncoats site were commenting about the soundtrack spoiling it for them.
I really did love Mr. Universe as well, even though he tried to sell them out. He was funny though, and he did help Mal out in the end through his sex bot. ;D

I thought it would have been funny if Mr. Universe's bot was played by the same actress who played Warren's original bot.

I'm so irritated with people on the Official board right now. I can't believe so many people are really pissed because Wash it dead.
They're insulting Buffy fans and saying we aren't "true" fans of Firefly, we're just mindless Whedonites that can't think for ourselves.
Then the site pissed me off. I wrote this really wonderful post about Buffy and Firefly and the site had an issue, my post was lost.

Yeah. Some people are getting a little goofy over there.
The Browncoat site has been pretty slow all weekend. I haven't tried to post though.

I posted some stuff yesterday. I just got on there today hoping things had calmed down but they haven't.
I still can't believe I spent all that time writing that wonderful post and it's gone.
The site is going way too slow to try again. They probably wouldn't have listened anyway.
I just don't want Joss or Nathan logging on and thinking everyone agrees with these idiots.
They're spamming the board with their complaints and it really makes me mad that they're insulting the rest of us just because we happen to like Joss.
They should stick with Reality shows and Fairy tales, they'd be much happier.
Too bad Tj can't access the site. It'd be fun to see what he'd do to them.

Aye, the chic I went to the movie with...didn't watch b/a and was crushed that wash died....I said to her..."it's what he does...he tears your heart out and serves it to u on a platter" if you don't like it then u don't like Joss.
I told her b4 the movie that Joss was gunna make us hate him and bask in his brilliance all at once. And he succeeded.
Honestly tho...I have to see the movie again because I was preoccupied at the moment of Wash's death with confusion. I was having trouble with the object that killed him being something the Reevers got him with...It looked like something they crashed into...so I was too busy trying to figure out how it technically and asthetically occurred rather than in the moment.
I'm a lil annoyed that we didn't find out Book's story...but I find myself thinking that Book and that assassin dude were like the opposite sides of the same coin. Both had firm beliefs. Both seemed to hone some major skills based on those beliefs...but Book became a shephard and the assassin...well, an assassin. Actually I was going somewhere with that...but I can't spit it out for some reason...but I hope someone knows where I'm going with that and runs with it....or I will later hehe

One of the girls we took was someone Celeste had gotten into Firefly. She's never seen Buffy or Angel either and she's pretty pissed about Wash dying. Not as pissed as some of the people on the Browncoats site though.
I think we'll find out about Book some day, at least I hope we will. I do think that maybe he used to be an Operative at one point but something happened to make him become a Sheppard.
I almost wonder if he knew about Miranda? But I think he'd been a Sheppard much longer than that.
Joss did say that everyone was signed on for the sequels if they get to have them so they should be back in some form or another - unless they were just saying that so as not to spoil the deaths. I believe he says it in the Visual Companion though and that has the full screenplay in it so it must be true.

What a movie....what a movie!!! It's a shame we only got to see it once during the whole time we were there. It was just we had to so much...and the waitress who we had was slow trying to figure who had what to eat. It took an extra half hour to do so.
But wow!!!!! I loved it, and was pissed all at the same time. And Grail has a theory that River was created to defeat the Reavers, because all of the memories that she had disappeared as soon as River saw the tape. I agree. I think that Joss is a gorram genius. I cried when Book died, and was devastated when Wash was killed. I mean wow. There is so much to say.

I'm so glad to see you back. ;D I was wondering what you thought of Wash's death. It was one of the first things I thought of when the shock wore down a bit.
After cursing Joss for his sudden but inevitable betrayal of course.
I agree with Grail about the River theory. It seems very likely to me, especially after repeat viewings.
So, was the theater in Vegas packed? I wish I could have seen it in a theater packed with Browncoats. I wanted to sing the song before the show.

Oh you really must fill us in on the trip tho...I wish I could've met all our friends too..
but Grail does pose an interesting point...I think it's more interesting and likely than my thought that her PTSD of other people's thoughts and memories she gleamed was just finally resolved since she got to confront it head on....if that made sense lol

Sounds like a good theory. I was too shocked to formulate any theories of my own though.

The theater was mostly empty at the MGM Grand one. It was a huge room, and it was maybe a quarter full. We all sat up front, and tj is going to the Special Hell.
And we loved the last bit of the closing credits when they Played "Serenity"

So I guess you guys didn't have any trouble getting tickets then?
I've seen the movie three times and I still have seen the music at the end. I didn't realize it was there during the first two showings. When I went again last night everyone left the theater and I didn't feel like sitting there all by myself just for that.
I'll be going to see it again next weekend with Celeste so I'll make her stay so we can see that.
So, tj was talking during the movie?

I'll have to sit through the credits next time. I was wondering why they didn't play the theme.

Just once did he talk..and I didnt even hear him.
Actually one of my favorite parts of the movie was the beginning and Simon's rescue of River...that was pure genius. Another thing that I liked was the that Mal made River pilot, I thought that it was appropriate. I think it was tj or Marc that said that Zoe would resent the person who would replace Wash as pilot except River. And I agree with whoever said that.
