Sorry about the title, but I wanted to make absolutely sure that no one stumbled in here who hasn't seen the movie yet.
If you're reading this it means you've seen the movie, right?
Last chance to turn back...
Okey dokey. Ye have been warned.
OK. I have now seen Serenity. There was a pretty good turnout for a Saturday afternoon show. One part actually drew some applause. Kaylee's, "I want to live" line during the Reaver fight had people clapping.
I'm actually a little depressed at the moment though. Book's death didn't really bother me that much. I think it was because he was only in the movie for a short time. I didn't have time to bond with him again so I didn't feel a great loss when he died. I think I also subconsciously believed Joss was going to kill someone off and I was ready for it.
Now Wash's death, on the other hand, that really threw me. I walked out of the theater in an actual daze. I had a thousand yard stare while I was driving home. It was Fred all over again. At least in Angel there were new episodes each week. I could believe that something was going to happen next week to make Fred not dead anymore. I'm going to have to wait awhile for this denial phase of mine to pass.
Don't get me wrong, I really liked the movie. It's just like when I saw Thelma and Louise. It was a good movie but all I remember is the goofy ending when they drove off the cliff.
I probably should just see it again like Cordy suggested.

I'd love to discuss it with you Auntie but I'm in a state of shock right now.
But one thing about the deaths, spectacular last words.

I felt the same way about the death the first time I saw it. I'm still in a bit of shock over it but seeing it a second time really helped.
I'm really glad I had already bought the tickets to see it back to back. I wanted to curse Joss Whedon for his sudden but inevitable betrayal when Wash died.
I pretty much expected Book to die when I saw all the others he was with were already dead. It wouldn't have been very realistic for him to have survived when everyone else had died.
Wash on the other hand, his death came from left field. It was especially horrible because he'd just finished saving the day and delivered that hilarious line and then BAM! He was stolen from us.
I have to say that it really made the rest of the movie much more intense though. I was pretty much expecting everyone to die after that. When Zoe got slashed across the back I was expecting her to die.
When Kaylee got hit I thought she might die. I really thought Simon was dying after he got shot by the way he was talking to River but I was praying it wasn't so.
Joss really did put us on one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride. He has the entire Browncoat site up in arms about the movie. Lots of people are pissed off because Wash and Book are dead. I mean really, really pissed off. It's kinda scary to try to go there and talk about the movie.
I feel sorry for Nick. He has no idea what's coming. He may well want to kill us later. ;D

I know what you mean. At one point, when it looked like half of them were going to die, I figured Joss was just going to kill them all off. End it on his own terms.
I really want to know what will happen next. Too bad it's not on next week.

A guy behind me in the theater said, "I bet Mal will broadcast that tape and get shot. Damn you Whedon!"
I'm so heartbroken, not only by their deaths but the fact that this might be it. We may never get to see these characters again.
It's a bit strange to love and hate Joss all at the same time.

Had River died that would've made it so much worse though, I just couldn't stop thinking about what the Reavers would do to her.
Oh and just as a side note---Reavers are scary.

I have faith that Joss will be able to work with it. He's done stuff like this to us before and was able to make it work.
I feel like we need a wake or something.

I liked the way they just made quick flashes to the Reavers. It made them seem even scarier.

Me too. They do seem pretty scary. I won't be able to have my friend Gaby see this movie. It'll scare the hell out of her.
She doesn't do scary movies - she had nightmares just from seeing a preview to The Ring 2.
I had to go see it again. I actually went to the movies alone, something I've never done. I just got back.
Now I'm reeling from Wash's death again but I love this movie even more. The more you watch it the more you can see it as a thing of beauty.
It's also fun to watch the audience react to it. Last night there was only 13 people at the 9:30 show so I was worried that there wouldn't be anyone there tonight.
There was probably around 35 to 45 people there tonight. I was getting worried that they didn't like it because they really didn't laugh out loud to any of the great lines in the beginning.
I shouldn't have worried. As the movie went on people started laughing a bit more in the right places.
And when Mal led the Reavers straight at the Alliance the audience applauded! ;D We didn't get applause last night.
I believe I heard some crying when Wash died and I really think most of the audience was newbies so that was great.
Jayne's "Well I might" and Kaylee's "Hell with this! I'm gonna live!" lines got some great laughs as did the part where Mal faced off to the Operative with the screwdriver - which is just so very funny and so very Mal.
This movie is just so shiny. I want to see it again.
I also think we really need a wake for Wash and Book. Joss does like to make us love and hate him at the same time. He really does.

I've never gone to see a movie by myself until today either. See what Joss can make us do?

Yeah, not only did he make me go to a theater by myself but he made me see the same movie 3 times in a little over 24 hours. Now that's really something. ;D

35 people? I've been to see it three times and we've had a packed house every time.

I sat in the front row, so I don't know how many people were there, but it was at least 20 or so. I could tell the group in the row behind me were Firefly fans from the comments they were making, so that made me feel a little better since the five people I brought with me had never even heard of the show before I made them watch it. There was a lot of applause. I seriously can't belive what a good movie it is. I'd go see it some more, except going to the movies costs $10 and I already have $96 that people owe me back. I'm really, really angry at Amazon and the people who made the soundtrack for this movie, and if you don't know why I'd suggest you look at the title of track 10. I saw that three days ago and had been trying to convince myself it meant something different and they'd never put a spoiler like that on the soundtrack. 30 minutes into the movie I was convinced Zoe was going to die, since we all know 1) someone always dies in a Joss Whedon story and 2) no one ever lives happily ever after with their true love in a Joss Whedon story. The funny thing is it never occurred to me he would go after Wash. That really shocked me. During the Reaver fight I started thinking that Mal would be the only left alive or that at least Serenity would be demolished beyond repair. Oh, and did anyone else love Mr. Universe? There really, really needs to be a sequel.

It's Homecoming weekend here so not too many people are going to the movies.
That and Farmington isn't known for liking great movies. I had people behind me when I watch The Grudge that didn't understand the movie.
When I went and saw Interview With the Vampire for the second time people were walking out. They really didn't get it at all.
So that was actually a pretty large crowd considering the town and the weekend. This town usually goes for the big stupid movies that don't require much in the way of thought.
I really need to move.
