Kev: I think there's enough room after the GA eppy for the last two hours to be on. Maybe or maybe not. "All That Jazz" ran two hours, and then WW, DH and GA were 40 mins each, so that's 2 hrs + 2 hrs, so on a six-hour tape, there might be exactly enough room for two hours tapeage even with commercials.
Really appreciate this, guy. Enjoy the eppies -- I'm sending them express!

I'm actually a little depressed at the moment though. Book's death didn't really bother me that much. I think it was because he was only in the movie for a short time. I didn't have time to bond with him again so I didn't feel a great loss when he died. I think I also subconsciously believed Joss was going to kill someone off and I was ready for it.
Now Wash's death, on the other hand, that really threw me. I walked out of the theater in an actual daze. I had a thousand yard stare while I was driving home. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the movie. I had to wait a few days before I could come here and read what you all thought, because I wanted to "feel" my own feelings first. But Auntie, I totally agree with you here. Book, I didn't really care so much. I kinda didn't really like his character to begin with. And he was troubling me when River could read his mind. I think he appears calm on the outside, but I think he could be some kinda freaky frenzy on the inside. I just never liked him. But Wash -- crap that really sucks. I am still let down on that ending. And maybe that's the draw for Joss to bring us into the sequel? We all have to see why he killed off Wash? I dunno. But you are not alone in how you felt after. And with Joss, it seems he finds a way for people that died to come back. Maybe Wash's spirit remains on the ship for all of eternity. Maybe they go to some land (ahem -- Spock/Star Trek 2 & 3) and restore death. Or turn back time -- gosh you know it's always some damn wild ride with Joss. So ... something good HAS to be ahead. Right?

I also didn't like Wash's death - mainly because Joss was (in my opinion) using one of his trademark cliches without a need for it (shocking death that comes out of nowhere? What a Whedony thing to do!).

Well .. it was controversial. Maybe that was the point.
Remember the down to the floor shock when Spock died?

I think the point is that what they were doing was actually dangerous. Life threatening. That people could get really hurt or worse.
And yeah -- people that we loved.
Poor Bendis who was too pretty to die was lost within the first five minutes of "Firefly."
Wars where no one dies aren't real, and much as he bends it and twists it and makes it scream, Joss does seem, on some level, to like reality.
Also, not to give anything away, but the comics might give you a new perspective on where Wash was at in this whole thing.

I understand this, and agree. People die in these things.
However.....I still think killing Wash was one Jossism too many.

Instead of getting the individual issues, you might want to check out the Trade Paperback instead. Okay Nick -- So consider I have allot of reading to catch up on, and I have no idea where to start, can you provide me with a reading recommendation list, in order of purchase and "must read". Basically a check off sheet of sorts. I HATE getting into the middle of stuff ... I tend to get "phobic" in that feeling -- so I really need a list from you, if possible. THANKS NICK -- I'm gonna Karma you up -- oooh! ;D

It is all of those things, ITL. It's basically the script, but with many, many, many stills and sketches and drawings and outtakes and interviews and pictures of Joss and the cast.
One such snippet of interview (from memory): Nathan was talking to Joss when he finished the script and asked him to give the first and last line of it. Joss said: "Earth That Was" and then "Wasn't it weird the way Mal died in the first act?" ;D
Dez: IMO, the comics that bridge the series and the movie are top priority, but in that he's read more than me, I won't step on Nick's toes.
